I’m 42, and this is a get off my lawn post, but, was anyone else’s ears bleeding from the speaker level at the game today? I have been to literally 100’s of games at pba and I’ve never heard the music so loud. But I thought it was just a little too loud. I also noticed a huge shift to metal/rock/classics during breaks in the game that I do largely appreciate.

Was a season ticket holder for 25 years until
I moved to VT in 2013. Still manage to make a game or 2 every year Went to the Texas game and sad to say it might be my last game. Because of the music mainly. I had to yell to have a conversation with my daughter who was sitting next to me. And all we talked about was the game. But also the fan behavior was way overboard. Cursing, booing and obnoxious behavior. It really was an unpleasant experience

This was also a problem last year. There should be a cap on the decibel level. The level is all over the place from game to game, many times criminally loud. This causes real hearing damage to ALL AGES. It is not right.

I’m 44 and was happy to finally hear the speakers being used. Plus the hockey horn. Yes they interrupted Big Red a few times, but louder music means fans need to be louder to keep up. I’d rather be hearing loud music due to a run and opposing teams timeout than sitting on my hands bc the team isn’t performing. Also, first time I’ve heard the hockey horn to end the game, I think a little Brass Bonanza should accompany it and make it a new PBA game ender.

What needs to happen is that some of the PBA PA system decibels need to be brought over to the Rent as that PA system is insufficient!!

Lol! Was there yesterday and thought it was perfectly fine and I’m 50. Ct fans lack in the personality department so anything to get the stiffs off their feet.

I loved it no complaints. I rather it be loud and rowdy than silent and dull. Agreed with the Big Red chants being muted due to music being played over them. That also happens at Gample though with the music starting before the chant. Another layer from yesterday is that Big Red wasn't in his normal seat which may have thrown off the first chant or two.

Are you Class of 1905?

OK, I'm 80 and played in the UConn Marching Band and the Alumni Band for over 35 years, so I should be hard of hearing. But the noise level is absurdly loud and hurts my ears. I also played in the Pep Band for 4 years and we always played during time outs. Why do we need a DJ?? I tried to complain through the UConn website but they use a chatbot to communicate now It doesn't seem to understand my issue. Maybe it's hard of hearing????

Old fart here. I associate loud music and “Get Loud” entreaties on the video with pro sports, where in my opinion, they need to artificially inject some life into an arena filled with a bunch of corporate suits.

I like the college game atmosphere much better for the organic noise of wild cheering students, and the marching band. Sadly the pure college atmosphere seems to be giving way to the pro model, at least for the big arenas.

Edit: while we’re at it, the movies. At some point, they deceided we all want the sound levels of a locomotive horn. Love the big screen, but won’t even go any more.

Are they still playing Jock Jams v1 or have we finally moved past that?
Hey Mike, be honest, has there been anything since Jock jams that is remotely better? I’m blaming you youngsters because they never play Gonna Make You Sweat for the Dance cam anymore. And I’ve been practicing!

Sound is an issue at football as well. There were times the PA guy at The Rent could barely be heard but the music was loud. At Gampel dialing the non pepband music back 2 numbers on the dial would be helpfull so you don't have to yell to whomever you came to the game with. Is anyone doing some self evaluation at the venues? As things seem slow to be addressed.

Too loud at Toscano too. They constantly drown out the band. We do the U C O N N cheer after goals, but we have to wait for the too long Brass Bonanza music, then the announcement of the goal scorers.

From the same era but I would choose this song. I think the Eagles played it before their playoff game with the 49ers.

I could be wrong, but I think he’s been in the spot all season. His old seat is now student section so he probably moved closest spot that has a platform. @temery is that accurate?

The color commentators used the word “murmur” to describe the crowd noise level a certain points in the game yesterday. Couple that with Hurley and multiple players on the bench throwing up their hands as if to say “Get the yuck up”, maybe loud music was needed to get folks excited in between runs.

And it was also extremely loud at times.

Was at the game the crowd Saturday and thought the crowd was great
I am pretty quick to criticize the crowd, but I had the same impression. As for speaker loudness, I understand both sides and it is pretty loud. My question is how come I can’t understand 90% of what the public address announcer is saying? Or is it just my age? sometimes I can’t understand anything they’re saying, yet when the DJ is doing the blue white chant it’s pretty loud and I can hear him clearly.
