Lol.
I'm guessing you haven't listened to the words.

I was going to write the same thing :D Because, seriously.

It starts with being angry about rural poverty, then it rages against the stupidity of war (literally mentioning a brother he lost at Khe San), and finishes by railing about the poor treatment of vets after the Vietnam War.

This has NEVER been a yeah-rah USA!-USA! song. Folks, you have to listen to the words beyond "Born in the USA."

FYI
Bruce Springsteen
Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
End up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up
Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.
Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man
Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.
Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man said "son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "son, don't you understand"

I had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now
Down in…
Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., I'm a long gone daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., I'm a cool rocking daddy in the U.S.A.
Songwriters: Bruce Springsteen
Born In The U.S.A. (Remastered) lyrics © Downtown Music Publishing

That last highlighted lyric--sentence--I heard that at the VA--not recently--
That highlighted section to me , after seen kids at Bethesda and Walter Reed (old)
and Vet in 4 VA hospital---brings tears to my eyes--if that isn't patriotic--I'm in the wrong country.

I just posted the Lyrics---they ring in my ears--and I hate Vietnam songs--
I could speak race here --but if you dig in your heart --you'll see it.

Apologies but I'm not sure what you're saying. Could you expand?

As someone who lived in the Philly area for most of the 1970s, I couldn't help notice that the Flyers occasionally substituted Kate Smith's recording of "God Bless America" for the "Star Spangled Banner" before certain games. For some reason, the Flyers seemed to play better in those games (36-3-1 before that game), so Kate became the team's good luck charm. During their Stanley Cup run in 1974, the Flyers brought in Kate to sing in person. The ovation was overwhelming:

The Flyers won that game and the Stanley Cup.

Note that the great Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito congratulate Kate afterwards.

No apology is necessary--or wanted. Your opinion is yours--mine is mine. Any further comment by me on this subject could become unpleasant--and I prefer to stop right here. But thank you for the opportunity.

I don't thin Wally is trying to start anything. I believe he, like myself, really don't understand what you're trying to say.

Twenty years in the artillery and my granddaughter's kindergarten class sang "It's a Grand Old Flag" at their graduation. She said, "That song was for you, Papa."
