Tough spot for Princeton. Tulane gets in!

And I love the committee putting a possible rematch of Tenn-Chatt vs Tenn in the round of 32.

If they are trying to get fans in the seats, the times of these games aren't helping! I imagine it is for the benefit of TV, but most of these games have only regional interest. Having games in the middle of a weekday or late at night (UConn at 9 pm?) is going to impact attendance.

Prolly not but that would be great to see!

Can LadyVol beat Maryland?
Well one good thing. Is the Tennessee players from Oregon. Thier familes can see them in Spokane. Yes I think so.

I think we can be competitive with Maryland. Beating them will be tough.

We would need to get past Oregon State in the Sweet 16 though. Hamblin will be tough without Harrison. Beating them earlier in Knoxville really means nothing. OSU may not get past Gonzaga though. If Gonzaga won, and Tennessee won, we would have to play them in a home game.

I think Duke could beat Maryland too.

I don't care what the reason is to have USF, KU, Louisville in the same bracket with Uconn is totally pathetic. especially USF.

I don't quite understand the uproar with USF. Yes they are in the same conference as UCOnn, but #6 is a great seed for them IMO, and to play UConn they would have to go two rounds above their seeding (pull upsets in both the Second Round and Sweet 16). This is not like in the past, when, for example, the committee put UConn #1 and RU #2 in the same region when they were both in the Big East.

The Committee sure did get cute in the region though. RU vs SHU in the first round. A potential Sweet 16 matchup between Louisville and UK. Very, very funny.

Isn't USF getting to play the first two rounds at home? Sounds like a pretty good deal, no? Even Jose said he was willing to take a lower seed just to get to play at home.

The problem with USF is that they will be playing at home the first 2 rounds (since Louisville can't host), so they have a shot at making the 2nd weekend.

My issue is that there are 3 other brackets they could have been in, why stick UConn with a potential matchup with a team that they've already played three times, and close (in UConn terms) two of those three times? That's BS and a really crappy move for USF, UConn, and the AAC.

And don't forget good ol Rutgers. While none of the teams may be threats to beat us they can all be threats to maim people in their quest to win.

Why do the 2 best teams in the AAC, who have already played 3 times, get placed in the same region? Does the old 4th game is the charm theory ring a bell? Who better to beat UConn than a team that has come close in their third try?

And as far as a conspiracy, how does Kentucky, a team that lost twice to Tenn get sent to the closer region while Tenn goes to Spokane? I'd love to have heard the committee chair explain that one.

And ..... is it just a coincidence that Waltz, Mitchell & Auriemma, three of the 4 male coaches in the top 16, all get put in the same region? And you might as well add Fernandez to that group. To me it stinks of gender politics being played .......................... lets get as many female coaches into the FF as possible. How did Oregon St escape?

What's the chance of ESPN asking these questions? ZERO!

At least USF isn't Quinnipiac. They're on a 21 game win streak and drew a 12 seed (behind Miami and Arkansas) to face Oklahoma in Oklahoma City Region. Florida Gulf Coast beat them by 6 and they're a 7 seed Could have been higher at 31-3.

Game in Stanford if that's any consolation. But if form holds the refs will start tagging their players with fouls early to preserve the old guard.

they also make sure TN never gets close to us, always protecting the Vols

remember when they put the strongest number 2, RU, in the same bracket as the strongest number 1, us?

they're more disgusting than the mens' committees, a good ole gals club still

Tennessee may not beat Maryland again this year, but next year the Lady Vols will be able to play with anyone, including UCONN.

Good point! They probably thought about Oregon but didn't want to make it too obvious?

Ohhhhhhh noooooooooo

Princeton and Green Bay!?!?!?

Why????

If you consider the number of AD's whose applications were rejected by Princeton and add to that the same for their children, it should not come as a surprise.

Love it. You nailed it! Committee was certainly doing cutesy with a lot of the seedings this year. And that's fine. A meeting of the old Big East, that pays a lot of repects. Kudos to the committee on that one.

Considering Northwestern already maimed two of our starters in the B1G tournament, who may be done for the season, you might not even have to play us.

While I appreciate the outrage and need to hide behind conspiracy theories, I just point to what Geno said - if you're going to whine, why even show up?

If I was a coach that would be valid. Play who is in front of you. I agree. But I'm not a coach. Two years ago I went to bridgeport and watched UConn play Cal and then Kentucky. I face the same thing this year. This makes 3 out of 4 years with Kentucky as the 2 in UConn's region. Both coached by males, being put up against each other? If you think that's mere coincidence I've got a bridge ....

For years I've heard the committee chair say that they are bound by their geographical policy in siting teams. 2008 being the most blatant. This year we had Tenn and Kentucky, and two sites, Albany and Spokane. By almost any measure the committee uses, RPI, SOS, head to head, etc. Tenn is the higher seed and should have been sent to the closer site. But in a strange twist, the committee abandoned the same principles it has been saying are sacrosanct for at least 15 years, and sent the LV's to Spokane. And ESPN has a chance to ask for an explanation and passes on it?

Yeah, give me a tinfoil hat.
