Pat Forde: 'One draft choice per victory'

Few things worse in life or in work than dealing with a complete balloon knot who is right on any given topic.

In this case Forde and Burton have been right so far. If PP doesn't win at least 7 games this year they will be the victors who get to write chapter in Uconn history.

At least Burton is a UConn man - Forde is Cardinal red through and through. Hell, he wrote a book with Petino.

Clarification: there is NO real defense... And PP is a massive failure thus far. That said, we have no alternative, except hoping he succeeds this season and supporting the program. If we have another 5 or sub 5 W season, there should be not a single soul supporting this clown. If he does have a good season, then we have to hope its not an aberration and something sustainable.

Exactly.

Apparently UCONN isn't the only Big East team with NFL talent. Here are the teams that beat us last year. Based on this simplistic analysis our only really bad Big East loss last year was Temple.

Team--------- Players Drafted ----Free Agents signed------------ Total
South Florida ---------3-------------------- 5------------------------- 8
Syracuse-------------- 3-------------------- 4------------------------- 7
Rutgers--------------- 7-------------------- 5 -------------------------12
Temple ----------------1------------------- 2 --------------------------3
Cincinatti -------------1-------------------- 4-------------------------- 5
CT -------------------- 5-------------------- 2 --------------------------7

We had two FA signings Mets - Williams to Redkins and Smith to Texans

Based on being a sentient being the losses to Temple and South Florida were disgraceful. The loss to Syracuse was pathetic in the magnitude more than the existance.

... and zippo from Louisville! (bow down to Charlie Strong)

Um Charlie Strong has only been there long enough for two full recruiting cycles after taking over a talentless program. His players aren't draft eligible yet...

Fully aware of that (hired a year + before PP), but it doesn't diminish his coaching success last year.

Ah I read your bow down to Charlie Strong as sarcasm.

Nah... Very good coach - wanna see if he can sustain it. Could only dream to have someone like him fall in our lap when the time eventually comes.

In a (cliche coming!) "result oriented world," PP's UCONN record would, and probably will, get him gone. And, he'll be the happiest man in CT. Truth be told he is the absolute wrong man/wrong place/wrong time. I think SH and WM realize this. I think the only reason he coached and is still coaching is that SH didn't feel like trying to sell another severance (Hathaway, Calhoun) arrangement to the Trustees.

He probably remains a good, solid coach. He knows football. His skill-set just hasn't been updated to deal with an environment that requires equal parts FB coach, salesman, PR guy and huckster........the ESPN/Talk Radio generation; or to be the Athletic Dept's savoir. ON TV, PP comes across as just a guy; neither appealing or unappealing.

Look at Kevin Ollie in comparison. He's an appealing, energetic walking UCONN commercial who never misses a chance to tout both his school and program. And, he's looks to be a hell of a coach. Right now, the school needs the same from its FB coach and, I'm sorry, but I don't think PP will ever be the right fit. It's something that shouldn't happen to good people. But it does.
