Here's some national perception for ya . . . . no such thing as 'bad' publicity, I guess

Pat Forde @YahooForde
Five UConn players drafted so far, or one per victory in 2012. How's that Pasqualoni hire working out so far, Huskies?

The offensive coaches sucked/offensive players sucked pissing match has broken out anew on twitter so won't rehash it here. Lots of revisionist history out there on the pro-PP side. All I know is a new offensive coordinator was hired for some reason.

The odds of this happening have to be really low. Tough to find this information, but in the small time ive spent researching in the past couple hours, i can't find anyone else who has this many draftees, with that few wins.

pathetic

I certainly am not a Forde fan...but he's not wrong here. Maybe a bit "douchey" with his tone, but not wrong.

Easy medic. No one is "trashing program." Read something written/spoken outside of Connecticut. "How did that team only win five games" is now a national conversation.

Felt better to write it... it was deleted. Damn - your internet is faster than mine. But I guess my point remains that we have the convo raging on one thread - so let's start another.

PP sucks, sure, but there are plenty of teams who have been bad with good players, UConn 2012 wasn't the first time.

Nationally, the "good program, bad coach" tag is a positive for a team coming off back to back 5 win seasons.

I'm just glad we have another opportunity to have this argument again.

Basically it gives the program a solid alibi. We pump out NFL talent even with the bad coaches.

It certainly goes against every reason I have heard to suggest our football program is such an embarrassment that we have to pay penance in the AAC for 10 yrs before we can get an invite somewhere. 5 players drafted off a 5-7 team isn't too shabby.

Look to B1G last year. Illinois was 2-10 but had 4 draft picks this year to lead the B1G.

But a bone for the detractors... They at least beat Western Michigan ;)

Big Ten's 22 NFL draft picks: Illinois 4; Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin 3; Michigan, Nebraska 2; Iowa, Purdue 1. Lowest since 1994 when they had 21.

Well then we all have something to look forward to when we go 5-7 for a third straight year.

As a long time CAL season ticket holder I can assure you the Golden Bears have had a corner on the losing a ton of games while pumping out NFL talent market since long before the Huskies were playing division 1 football.

It has happened before. Tuberville's Auburn team had a horrid season with a lot of talent. Paterno had a losing season in the early 2000s and sent 6 players to the first 2 rounds. In both cases, fans clamored for new coaching.

1994 is surprising. I bet PSU put out 8 or 9 by itself that year. McDuffie, Engram, Hartings, Ki-Jana Carter, Kerry Collins, Kyle Brady, several others...

Not to be a smartass but if you see a thread with this title and you don't want to read about how PP sucks change the channel.

The reason why these threads have popped up the last couple of days because the national perception/consensus is how coaching turned a team with 5 NFL draft choices into 5-7.

I'm also tired about hearing how the offensive line sucked from people who wouldn't know a reach block from a chop block from a chip block.

If I read things correctly the Big East had 18 players drafted and 12 came from UConn (5) and RU (7)? Just seems bizarre.

There is almost no real defense of PP. If you can find 1 person here that would want him back after another 5-7 season I'd be surprised.

OTOH there are plenty of us that are tired of every thread on this board turning into a PP sucks thread.
Clarification: there is NO real defense... And PP is a massive failure thus far. That said, we have no alternative, except hoping he succeeds this season and supporting the program. If we have another 5 or sub 5 W season, there should be not a single soul supporting this clown. If he does have a good season, then we have to hope its not an aberration and something sustainable.
