The AD says: "Our student-athletes found out about 4:30 (p.m.) today, and Coach Chambers is the one that delivered the news to them. And as you can imagine, that was difficult news for them to hear. You know, Coach Chambers has many current and former players that have been glowing in their praise of him. And, you know, our current players, many of them have very good relationships with him. And he's the one that has given them this opportunity. And so they are, they're in a little bit of shock and they're very disappointed.
Considering the praise the AD says current and former players offered on Chambers' behalf, is the AD just being nice with these comments so Chambers doesn't sue PSU? Why not the usual, "we don't comment on personnel matters" with no mention of how great many players believe him to be?
KF most likely won't be commenting, but it would be interesting to know if he believes Chambers made a poorly worded off-hand comment about Bolton (it was while he was there) or if there were other incidents that show him to be another Mike Rice.

The ex-Penn State coach didn't just make racially questionable comments to a few black players. He alienated enough PSU staff and officials through his combustible demeanor that, when administrators were given reason to thoroughly investigate him, they got an earful.

One former assistant told me Chambers' explosive and sometimes arbitrary behavior alienated some coaches, players and game officials: "He sort of blacks out sometimes and screams crazy things during games. It’s easy to hate Pat."
