Add a plus sign and then something unique after the beginning of your email address when registering for a site, an online contest, or even posting your email on a public forum.

e.g. tom+boneyard@emery.net (my email is tom @emery.net)

If I receive an email to tom+boneyard@emery.net I'll know my address was shared, sold, openly indexed, etc.

But this also allows me to then set up a filter to send these email to trash, or a designated folder to archive the email.

(yes I am that bored at 3:30 in the afternoon after not having slept for 24 hours. But this really is a good tip)

Good tip. I think this also applies (can use a . as well) to get free trials of subscriptions over and over. Just move the + or .

Tips for passwords:
1- Insert commas into your password so when your credentials are dumped into a CSV it breaks it
2- add space at the end of your password to confuse anyone trying to read it from a console
3- use double single quotes
4- Put a zero as the first character so it will just erase it

Not sure how well these tips work.
