BYU shuts out Michigan by playing tight pass coverage. Announcers made reference to it many times. We come out playing 10'yards off these receivers which allowed them many easy completions down the field. Their receivers were big but did not appear that fast which is why you do it. How do you not run press coverage on that type of receiver the entire game and get physical with them? Obviously worked for Michigan the previous game but for some reason we play way off them instead?

I wish we pressed more for sure. But I love how people say that what works for one team should naturally work for every team. As if their personnel is exactly the same. To boot, I'm sure BYU focused all week on press coverage and how to beat it and I'm sure they put together a game plan for it. The coaches know their personnel in and out, if they felt their best way to win was bend don't break, force a freshman to make and complete many throws per drive without turning the ball over, then I'm all for it. With that said, I think we should have brought more pressure with the blitz later in the game when it was obvious that our offense was struggling. This could've put ends to some of their longer drives and maybe created an extra TO or two.

As far as dropping deep hind sights always 20/20. I think we limited their point total for sure. Our offense turned the ball over and gave up short field position costing us 7 and we gave them short field position on an onside kick as well for another 7. I definitely would've dropped a little less on the corners considering we didn't even really make Magnum throw into windows, it was simple pitch and catch for 5 to 8 yards for many of those throws. If we were getting pressure with a 4 man front than maybe our depth would've been fine. But we do not have the pass rushers to do so.
