Panthers up for sale, could the team be moved to Connecticut?

The NFL's Panthers are up for sale. Could the team be purchased by a group who move the team to Connecticut. Then UConn and the Panthers could share a stadium. The local newspaper said there is no guarantee the team will stay in North Carolina. I know it was previously discussed that the Patriots were going to move to Hartford, but that sure fell apart. Still, Hartford would benefit economically if a pro football team locates there.
Will city’s ‘hard tether’ keep Panthers in Charlotte? Not necessarily.

I believe there is a 100% chance this is not happening. If it happened, they'd have a few good seasons of attendance, but they l struggle to get people there for kick off and keeping them there for the whole game. Then the majority of the "fans" will stop showing up when the team starts to lose more than win and complain about the teams we play and should drop down to a lower level of play or go independent.

At first, I thought you were joking. Then, I thought, hey it's the xmas season, why not dream big? But I do worry that you are serious. CT is about #9368926 on the NFL expansion list. As Noey said, if we can't get an NHL team, we ain't getting nuttin.

As soon as Connecticut becomes economically viable as a state it could attract two or three NFL teams. Hartford, New Haven and Stamford are all contenders.

Before you shut down this topic, consider this scenario. Get a few billionaires from CT [there are many of them] to buy the team. Let's say it goes for $1 billion. Then have the team play for a few years at the Yale Bowl. Then create a modern entertainment/sports/gambling/hotel/restaurant/convention complex somewhere in CT. Hartford, which may lose the XL Center and Aetna soon, is an option, or maybe put it around the casinos. This could include a modern new civic center for UConn games and maybe an NHL team, too. The fan base will not just include local residents but visitors coming to the state for conventions, gambling, entertainment etc.

When John Rowland was trying to lure the Patriots, gambling and big name entertainment weren't part of the plans.

I would also expand Bradley Airport and offer higher speed train service there.

I don't see much in the way of economic development for the state -- and if we don't do something soon, Hartford will be in the same boat as Detroit. It already may be too late. UConn will suffer as a result.

Hartford, and Connecticut more generally, is in a better location than Detroit. We are between two major population centers, and Detroit is not a convention destination like Las Vegas.

This is stupid on so many levels (mostly economic and demographic) that I can't believe I'm responding. Having said that, an NFL team in Connecticut would be the end of UConn football. It would pirate away the fanbase, and the thought of playing games in front of 12k in a 70k seat stadium would keep even me away.
