I feel like Paige should be going one on one in isos at least a couple of times per game. Those flashy plays seem to get her into rhythm and she's darn near unguardable 1 on 1 in those spots. Especially in the midrange. It reminds me a lot of Chelsea Gray.
 
Another highlight of last night’s game was Paige’s “and 1” when she took it to the basket against 6’6” Jonquil Jones. After the play, when Jones started twirling her arm and index finger, calling for an officials review, Paige wasn’t having any of it as she trolled Jones by walking in front of her doing her own arm twirl as if to say, “yea, let’s take a look at that play.” :)

I love the fact that Paige isn’t taking any BS from WNBA veterans. But Jones is a big lady to get on the wrong side of, albeit with a generally easygoing disposition. ;)
 
It's hard to believe, but Paige's game is really improving as a pro. She has added a "Street" element that gets oohs and awes from the fans.
Last night she was 7/10 from inside the arc, (Arike 1/7).
She has mentioned that she wants to take it to the basket more, a la Old Dude's post above.
Pretty soon she will become un-guardable. Too bad she gets so little help from the cast off collection of players on the Wings.

As much as I enjoy watching Paige play basketball, I am anxious to see her play with a talented, veteran lineup where she will orchestrate a basketball symphony. Hopefully, next season, through free agency, the Wings start to bring in players who can play more effectively with Paige. If not, there’s always the 2028 Olympics……

100%...lot less double coverage
 
Last night after the game during their after the game commentary, they showed a picture of Paige talking to CD. Later on she was talking to two men, one of which was I believe was Jason Sudeikis, the star of Ted Lasso. Does anyone know who the other gentleman was that she was actually talking to Paige, as Jason was just a bystander during their conversation? BTW, Sudeikis is an avid Caitlin Clark fan. Maybe he is moving on to a more liked future superstar. LOL
 
We all heard Geno describe in an interview last season that Paige Bueckers was the most unguardable player in Div I and that obviously has carried over into the WNBA. There frankly are not many players that can guard Paige when she wants to score unless they hold, bump or somehow restrict her movement. She is simply too quick and agile handling the ball so that a defender is usually caught throwing their arms up uselessly in the air and/or fouling.

I just hope she doesn't get injured with all of the contact (especially the moving screens and hip checks other teams continually use to restrict her when she's defending on the perimeter) before the Wings "experimental" - building for the future? - season is over.

I didn’t see the video, but both John Turturo & Ben Stiller were at the game last night, along with several other luminaries of Hollywood as well as the music industry.

The best shooting percentages for teams in the pros are not as good as the best ones in college. In college the best percentages are around 50%. Last year the Fever topped the league at over 45%; this year the Lynx are currently tops at over 46%, while the Fever are maintaining their 45%+ rate.

The Wings are shooting around 42%, which places them about in the middle of the league. I do expect the shooting percentages of Bueckers to rise further as a pro, but we cannot expect them to be the same as college. More to the point of BY angst, we might expect the Wings shooting percentages to go up with a different roster, but they will never shoot as well as UConn did this past year. We will continue to see many blown assists. That’s just the way things are.

Buecker's does shoot better than her collective teammates, meaning the team would be worse than 42% if you subtract her numbers, just as was the case with UConn. That likely will continue to be true no matter the changes in roster.

While won't argue with any of what you said but makes you realize that the Wings will have a lot to think about in the offseason on making the changes necessary to best augment and support their most productive player. So if "no matter the changes in the roster" won't matter, the next logical step is to consider what has been alluded to before on this forum: new coaching. Maybe it really needs to start there.

Last night there was a packed house at the Barkley Center. They were clearly rooting for the Liberty to win as well as Paige to light it up. One of the biggest ovations during the game occurred when the PA announcer recognized CD in the front row of the crowd. Clearly there were lots of Liberty fans as well as lots of UConn/Paige Bueckers fans, neither of which were mutually exclusive.
 
Paige is an extremely likable personality and if she had the time and inclination could take a live show on the road targeted to her young fans (and parents) on how to play the game of basketball with help from some recognizable players but more: specific points that she can drive home on how to overcome adversity and turn it into a strength. There is no doubt she could draw a large audience in venues across several cities with the right production team. I wonder of that is what Stiller and Torturo were thinking.

But, I can hear you much wiser ones thinking "Come on, you old fool, Willie. She's got more than enough on her plate just being an all star rookie in the WNBA, playing for Unrivaled and working on product promotions".

OK, I'll take it back but does make you think about it at least a little, no?

Why take this idea back? Sure, she has a lot on her plate, but she's had a lot on her plate for a very long time. If it's something of interest to her, and she believes she has capacity, who knows?

I don't know if it's so much speed and agility as basketball IQ and the ability to score at all three levels. You can't cheat off on Paige as wherever you do she'll put a shot up. The fact that she can do it almost instantly also makes her a very difficult player to guard.
 
As an important side note to Paige’s Wings page, GM Curt Miller made it clear today that he has no plans to trade Arike by tomorrow’s trade deadline. Miller is hoping to sign Arike to a long term contract with the Wings as he builds the team around Paige.

I have to believe that Miller spoke with Arike and she indicated her desire to stay with the Wings. She has been one of Paige’s biggest supporters since draft day. For her part, Paige has consistently praised Arike. While Arike has struggled at times this season, there have been games when Arike and Paige have played exceptionally well together.

As I suggested in another post, everyone wants to play with Paige. Recently, WNBA enforcer Sophie Cunningham came out with a story of her interaction with Paige during a recent Wings-Fever game, commenting just how much she loves Paige. Paige just might end up recruiting her own WNBA championship team.
