I have been so impressed with her over the years with her willingness to give of her fame and persona to others, especially children. We have never quite had a player like her with all the social media fame even before coming here. In the games at Walsh against Seton Hall over the years I watched her as she patiently and pleasantly signed every autograph, posed or took every photo, and spoke to the many fans. This year, there were over a hundred fans surrounding the bus in freezing temperatures. She sees her fame as a responsibility and in so many ways is more mature and generous than older, even more famous athletes. I hope that all of our current players adopt the Paige model from here on in and pass it down as de rigueur for our players. To a large extent it has already been there and Geno has made sure that the recruits players that fit this pattern, but Paige has taken this to a much, much higher level.

I have commented on an aspect of Paige’s generosity before. After just about every game, home or away, win or lose, you can find a throng of young girls and some boys, with their parents, in one corner of the arena, waiting excitedly as Paige signs one autograph after another, or takes selfies with her young fans. Most of these fans are wearing a #5 UConn jersey

This practice started for Paige back in HS. She usually continues to sign autographs or take selfies until a UConn staffer lets her know that the bus is leaving and it’s time to go.

I remember Paige's team making their way into an opponent's facility -this huge entryhall - and it's packed with people waiting for Paige and one of her teammates looks at the camera and says something like "she gets this everywhere ... crazy man" and laughs.
