First team - Watkins, Betts, Hidalgo, Booker, Latson
Second team - Bueckers, Strong, Blakes, Morrow, Miles

AA team voting can be somewhat subjective, and with that many really good guards this year, who would you replace on the first team for Paige? I am extremely happy that Latson is getting noticed. It is what it is, and as many of you know, individual accolades are not UConn team goals. ;)

All of the honorees, both first and second team, are outstanding.
That being said, IMHO, I would replace either Latson or Booker with Paige in a heartbeat. Her efficiency, selflessness and willingness to fulfill whatever the team needs on a game-by-game basis or within the team's season-long development and evolution is without equal.
Just my opinion...

While many of us will justifiable dispute Paige as only a 2nd team AA, the fact that Sarah was named to the 2nd team is a wonderful and well deserved honor.

As always, the WBCA 10-player 1st team is the one that gets you up on the wall as a HOH. I expect Paige to earn her 3rd WBCA 1st team honor, and hope to see Sarah earn her first of 4.

I am fine with Paige being a second team selection. But I do see Booker on the first team. Booker was notorious for having some really bad inefficient games against the best teams.
Your statements contradict each other. Booker does not have the stats

Still a nice honor, really not much to choose among the group. Is Sarah the only freshman? Considering so many of the candidates were playing a fifth and six year, the depth may have been greater than in recent memory.

If the first team played the second team I would bet my money on the second team. Paige makes sense since she kind of faded into the greatness of the UConn players as a whole but how is Morrow not on the first team with her production? Many arguments could be had for and against most of the players on the list and for me Betts is tall but that is about it.

If it was April 1st, I'd say it was a joke. Madison Booker might be a first-team AA before her college career is over, but to place her ahead of Paige is ludicrous. Do numbers not matter anymore, or opinion trumps everything? In 4 games against LSU, ND, and two against SC, Booker shot 20 for 79, barely above 25%. Against LSU, she was 3 -17, and 7 - 21 against ND. In her 2 games against SC, she shot 3 - 19 and 7 -22.

I am tired of these so-called pundits and experts simply relying on favoritism and uninformed consensus. Maybe they only saw Paige play a few times. Name another guard beside Gianna Kneepkens and Katie Dinnebier who shot over 50% from the floor, over 40% from 3-pt land? When you add shooting over 80% from the charity line, the only other member is Kneepkens. When you factor in assist-to-turnover ratio of 3 to 1, the only player is Paige.

Latson had a very good year, but who doesn't think that if Paige played like Latson, JuJu or HH, she wouldn't be at or near the top in scoring? I'll wait.

Sarah is deserving of being a first-team AA as well. Unfortunately, there isn't enough room to add her, although her time will come shortly. She clearly outperformed Booker in a head-to-head comparison. There is not an aspect of her game that is missing, and defensively, she's as much of a havoc causer as Hannah Hidalgo.

They just fixed it to show Paige on the first team.

There were countless critical comments of the original list by the readers about leaving Paige out of the first team (including several by me).

They just said they made a mistake in tabulating the results and put Paige back on first team.

Other than Chantel, who writes lovely in-depth pieces, the rest of the Athletic staff are all recent college grads that lack the skills to cover the game.

The person who gets to submit the Athletic's official AP ballot (top-25, all-American, etc.), Sabreena, consistently ranks UConn way worse than the average AP or coaches polls. She has UConn at 6 today (and last week), while the AP poll has them at 3. She had UConn at 16 in the poll same time last year while the AP poll had us at 9.

In looking up JuJu's stats, she played about 5 minutes more per game than Paige 34.6 vs. 29.7mpg, took 33% more shots 513 vs. 384, and took 28% of USC's total team shots while Paige took about 19% of UConn's total team shots. JuJu shot .429/.339/.826 to Paige's .534/.408/.888 (her one missed FT yesterday would have gotten her to .899).

Clearly Paige is much more efficient all around and she didn't need to take more shots this season given the scoring talent around her. But if she played more and took more shots at a similar clip then she'd be a better POY candidate for the folks at The Athletic.

I hope this thing about a mistake is true. Paige has been the most efficient player in the nation. But who did they have to take off? I'd guess Booker, maybe?

It is correct. Paige has been moved to 1st team and Latson (FSU) down to 2nd team. This was a pretty big screw up by the Athletic.

Sabreena is a fan who cosplays as a journalist. If women's basketball wants to be taken seriously, they need to get rid of people like her.

Yup. Corrected. From The Athletic: (Correction: An earlier version of this article included an incorrect order on our All-America teams. Paige Bueckers is a member of The Athletic’s All-America first team, and Ta’Niya Latson is a second-team All-America selection.)

It's a great honor but I have no issue with Paige on the 2nd team. She's had too many sub-par scoring games IMHO. Of course she has the intangibles, but stack her numbers, especially scoring, up against the 5 on the first team and I'll bet you'd be surprised.

By the way Paige is currently #40 in scoring PPG...

And a great honor for Sarah. So proud of her. She's been nothing short of terrific, and better than I anticipated in every way.
