State Champs, Iowa City West play Hopkins in the 2017-18 season. Paige Bueckers scores 27


The 5th game of the 2017-18 season, had the state champions of Iowa's largest school class, Iowa City West, traveling to Minnesota to play Hopkins in a multi-team showcase at Minnetonka HS. This 67-48 Hopkins win was from Paige Bueckers' sophomore season.... Bueckers led all scorers with 27, shooting 13 of 18 (72%) field goals. Paige also grabbed 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists.

I heard that. I also heard an older Fudd Podcast interview from before her injury and when asked her favorite W team she said the Mystics and her reason was that she admired how unselfishly they played. So now we know that she admires UConn's style and her favorite person to play with is going there. Now that proves nothing but it's a couple checks next to UConn's name. ;):rolleyes:

Paige's ridiculous skill level, fluid movement, and IQ would be phenomenal for a college senior much less a high school sophomore.

You can really see why Geno supposedly said she was ahead of DT at the same stages.

In the sophomore clip at the 41' 30" mark, after Paige does an awesome Eurostep, they start to discuss Paige's college prospects (She can go anywhere) and it is reported that UConn is in the Gym constantly.
 
That game immediately above illustrates a failing of the HS rules. No offensive clock. At 4 minutes to go Hopkins, in the lead, burned 90 seconds off the clock. Don't see the point in that.

Also, for much of the game Paige played wing which diminished her assist potential and mid-range game. I'm guessing the Coach was building a new back court, looking to the post Buckets era.

LOL! I would love to watch them. The new gym is only 4 miles down the road.
 
Hopkins vs Minnetonka - December 2017

Early in Paige's sophomore season. Paige was aggressive at the start but was 3/10 from the field at one point. She'd go 9/12 thereafter to finish 12/22 (6-6 FT) for 30 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals.
