Paige comments on Caitlin Clark

They’ve been friends since middle school, per Paige

Paige is being gracious and it is easy to be so for Caitlin an absolute star in spite of what is thrown at her. But in one particular I think Paige is being more gracious than accurate. To be sure people may watch or attend to see Caitlin and get hooked on more players. But to be dispassionate if you look at what happens when Caitlin is not playing ticket prices and attendance and I suspect views plummet.

Well, 20,000 people came to the fever/wings game in Clark was not playing. That no way is intended to minimize her contribution to women's basketball. It's just an observation.

Many of them probably bought tickets because she was playing, and still came since they already had tickets. There's a reason most wings games aren't selling 20k.

That said, WGAF? People come out to see CC, people come out to see paige. The more publicity these players get in college, the more of these types of players will be in the W.

I wonder who the next celebrity-rookies are for next year -- not just lottery picks, actual celebrities with a pre-existing following.

Lauren Betts is undoubtedly a lottery pick, but doesn't have the following of Caitlin and Paige. Does Azzi have enough of a following?
Serah may turn out to be a lottery pick, but she probably won't have this sort of impact.
Flau'jae?
Kiki Rice?
Olivia Miles?

Juju probably will have this sort of impact whenever she enters the league. Perhaps the league ought to be proactive and try to boost the name recognition and social media followings of kids before they enter the league.

I came out publicly and said that Caitlin Clark was the “Most” Valuable Player in the league last year. Some didn’t agree with me at all.

She may not have been the best player, was certainly not the most seasoned player as she was just a rookie. But she brought more money to the game than any other player, and probably more than any twenty other players combined.

The players are now entering into a collective bargaining agreement at the perfect time as finally the league is filling seats (or at least some games they are; particularly the ones against the Fever). There was no more perfect time for EVERY single player in the WNBA to have her join the league!

I am not making an argument about or against any other player in the league. I’m not saying that she is the best. I am a UConn fan and have at least nine or ten favorite WNBA players who I favor over Clark, but she is the “Most” Valuable in the league and it’s not even close.
