With 34 points last night, Paige now sits at 2,335 points for her UConn career. While that still leaves her in 6th place on UConn’s career scoring list, she is now just 7 points behind Katie Lou for 5th place and only 11 points behind Tina for 4th place. I strongly suspect that Paige will pass both in the upcoming game vs Oklahoma.

In addition, Paige is only 66 points behind Pheesa in 3rd place. In order to surpass Pheesa, Paige and her teammates probably need to advance to the FF, something that is certainly not out of the question.

Stewie in 2nd and Maya in 1st are probably both beyond Paige’s reach in the 4 additional games we all hope she plays in before completing her college career. But wherever Paige ends up, she will be one of the greatest ever to wear a Husky uniform.

I anticipate Paige will wind up in 3rd place scoring and to this fan, the 4th best to play at UConn after Stewie, Maya, and DT. Her injuries no doubt impacted her career like they do for so many, but the best thing she could do now is lead UConn to a title. I have a feeling this team can pull it off, but UCLA and SC will be tough opponents.

I like your picks, and it's awesome how different the four are.

Stewie - the prototype for new school stretch forward.
Maya - benchmark for classic small forward.
DT - the GOAT and original asassin shooting guard.
Paige - pass first point, who still scored 2400ish points.
Add Tina Charles at center, with Sue Bird, Stef Dolson and Napheesa coming off the bench and we are ready to go.

Whatever she did or didn’t do on the floor pales in comparison to the type of woman she is and how she represented this university with pure class. Never can I remember a kid take all the spotlight she gets and be essentially perfect in it. Her skills yes were incredible but when i think about PB that is what I will remember is a kid that got it from day 1 and did this university damn proud

.-.
This is like saying one probably can't swim to Jupiter.
If Paige scores 176 points in each game for the next four games, she'll surpass Maya. She'll only need 86 per game x4 in order to pass Stewie.

Points aside, there's a good argument that Paige is the GOAT: 50/40/90=best shooting record % in history. But Stewie was the one to build an entire team around. Love them all.

What do you mean? single year?

Bird was .505 / .466 / .942 her Sr year.
Bueckers is .542 / .411 / .902 this year.

For career Bueckers is .533 / .421 / .851

So, here is the thing. Winning an annual scoring title is maybe the most impossible thing to do at UConn. This has been pointed out by sports commentators in game many times. It is the philosophy of UConn's game that translates onto the court and dampens the me, me in everyone's game.

.-.
How many games has Paige played vs the others ahead of her. She was the fastest to 2,000 beating Maya record of 109 games. I believe that if Paige had played the same amount of games that she would have at least ended up as second and maybe even surpassed Maya.

Great observation Glad you posted it. She never lost sight of her faith and values and I think she never will

Ok, I am a bit perturbed with @oldude . We all like lists on this forum. At least reach out to @Vowelguy to assist, he's great with these types of things.

  • Maya Moore (2007-11): 3,036 points
  • Breanna Stewart (2012-16): 2,676 points
  • Napheesa Collier (2015-19): 2,401 points
  • Tina Charles (2006-10): 2,346 points
  • Katie Lou Samuelson (2015-19): 2,342 points

Sorry DBB. I got lazy….

Couldn’t have said it better. Everyone else on the GOAT list needs an asterisk because they got ~30 more games to post their stats than Paige did.

Of course all the names on that list have at least 1 Naty..some multiple Naty's..and that is the #1 reason girls come to Uconn..Paige knows that better than anyone..let's hope she can deliver this year

Maybe a little over 3 years from now Ms. Strong will enter the "4th best" debate. She'll really need to light it up to get there.

Sarah is already putting up Tina Charles numbers and is not far off Maya numbers. I mean, she's likely to have >600 pts and >300 rebounds at the end of this season. I suspect she's already well on her way to that party.

This year Strong should end up
#2 behind Moore in Points as a FR
#1 ahead of Charles in Rebounds as a FR
#2 behind Bueckers in Assists as a FR
#2 behind Sales in Steals as a FR
#4 behind Stewart in Blocks as a FR

She'll be ahead of Moore in Rebounds/Assists/Steals/Blocks and a little behind Moore in Points.

I have to admire the ability to shift any thread discussion to a tangential item. I understand the migration to Sarah but jeesh, I was initially teasing poor @oldude abut did want to show how Paige will end up. We have truly seen an all time great that has completely surprised me starting with @Charliebball telling us she would start immediately as a freshman (which I highly doubted) to her sheer dominance and then her unbelievable perseverance Leading to all the jerseys that have been sold and worn to all games. It still makes me smile T all the young girls gojng to the games with jerseys and signs. Thank you Paige!

Paige was the best high school basketball player I have ever seen...........she could have started at UConn as a junior in high school.......;)

Paige is easy to root for. What other college player buys 1500 tickets for her last home game and gives them away to her fellow students?

Hell, if they only made a XXL #5 UConn jersey in a fat old man size, I would probably buy one to wear myself…..;)

I'm amazed that this surprised you. It was a no brainer. Did you not see any of her HS play on video? To me she was a teenaged BB version of Wayne Gretzky. At least a play ahead of everyone on the court.

There were plenty of HS stars who we all thought would make great college players but also not many UConn freshmen can come in and start right away. Maya didn't and that team wasn't exactly loaded. Taurasi didn't but in her defense, that team was loaded. Stewie didn't and the list could go on. I always felt she would be good, just not as good, not as soon and not as transcendental as she's become.

No offense to many of you, but how many times do the lofty predictions come true on this forum? Some people thought they saw glimpses of Stewie in Jana....just sayin

1) While that's true about UConn freshmen, there was no one on the 2020-21 roster that was remotely close to Bueckers in talent and savvy. And Auriemma knew that well in advance.
2) That most definitely wasn't me. ;)

I'm in for a XXL Tall #5 UConn if available!!!

Go Huskies!!!
