Paige and some real rest. | The Boneyard

Paige and some real rest.

I've been thinking about that as well.
Better that the Wings are not in the play-offs
She's had 2 sub-par games since the great explosion
Must be exhausted.
Cut her minutes and give her a couple DNPs....let's see which players wanna have the drive and heart to play for their jobs next year

After Wednesday's game against the Sun (who have won 3 in a row), the Wings have 4 consecutive road games. Paiges two best games have been on the road. I remember Paige once stated that she loves road games because she likes to silence the crowd, and any adversity she receives just motivates her more.

Here is the flip side:

Paige is from the Minneapolis area. On Monday September 1st, the Dallas Wings travel and play the Minnesota Lynx in Minneapolis. Undoubtedly, there are thousands of little girls who've convinced their parents to purchase tickets to that game so that they can watch their idol play. So, for those thousands who've already purchased non-refundable, $200 tickets x 3, plus a space in a $30 parking lot, how do you think they would they feel about the suggestion of, "let's just sit Paige for the rest of the season?"

For the record, Thursday September 4th, which would be the following game after Minnesota, the Dallas Wings travel to San Francisco and play the Golden State Valkyries. I know of at least two Paige Bueckers fan's who've already purchased tickets and a hotel room; I know how they feel about that philosophy, and they don't even have a nine-year-old daughter who idolizes Bueckers. Those two particular fans would much rather see Paige play half of minutes for the remaining six games than to simply shut her down completely for the rest of the season, Bayou Barbie style. Just say'in...

Yes, Paige could use a long rest and recovery. But she’s Paige. She’ll compete hard for the last 7 games of the season. Then she can finally take some time to enjoy life, strengthen her body for next season and take in a few games in Storrs keeping track of her old teammates.

I absolutely expect Paige to come back next year with a renewed energy. Hopefully the Wings will sign some players during the offseason that will help Paige get the team to the playoffs next season.

Without knowing the exact statistics, I was of the impression that more players had gotten injured (percentage wise) playing in the Unrivaled League last winter than we typically see in the WNBA. Perhaps I am wrong about that, but it seemed that way.

The three on three, full court format was more exciting than the international half court 3-on-3 format (my opinion) but it certainly makes the players run! It is set up for a lot of fast breaks that you just don’t ever see in half court.

Never the less I suspect that we will see Paige play the winter league just the same. She is a competitor!

Yes, Paige can definitely use some time away from the game for a while at least until January when the Unrivaled season begins.

The best thing that could happen for Paige is to get traded to Minnesota.

Kinda like DT: "they were booing? I thought they were mooing"

I can see resting star players for the purpose of injury recovery and on VERY RATE occasion, just for resting. But to assess the rest of the team's players committment? If they aren't hustling as hard as they can in practice, they're not long for the W. And nor should they be. I can't imagine professional teams not having the same standard as top notch collegiate programs - with a few exceptions, you earn your playing time in practice.
