This should play well with its TV partners. What were these two idiots thinking? And what were the idiots at their TV partners that made the overpayment thinking?

I commented in the key tweets thread:

"The audit concluded that one of the Pac-12 distribution partners had overpaid the Pac-12 Networks for the year 2016 by a material amount."

So the "distribution partner" paid $50 million too much over 5 years or so. what the heck kind of controls do they have in place over there? If it wasn't espn or fox, who was it? Marty Byrde laundering cash?

That makes sense. A rounding error for comcast and it probably has so many extremely complex deals with media partners.

“The situation wasn’t built on something the Pac-12 could check,” the second source said, “because the payments were being made based on Comcast’s internal data. They couldn’t correct it, because it was all on Comcast.”

"Sources believe Comcast was double-paying the Pac-12 for a portion of its subscriber base — likely for the customers who received both the Pac-12 Networks’ national feed and one of the regional feeds."
