Outcome if we played our OOC schedule now?

No one here knows what we’re going to do or how we will respond. But even if we lose to Nova and St. John’s, crap the BE tourney we will still have a fresh chance to do something and we’ve done it before as a 7 seed. So everyone take a deep breath.

I love the hope, but those kind of runs are extreme outliers that are highly unrepeatable. And in today's world, much less so.

They're not going to stink it up against the BE down the home stretch and then turn it on. But a nice thought.

Says who??

I love positivity - but this helps me realize all the comical response to objectivity is pure delusion. The head in the sand club reigns supreme. Yes, not matter how we've played for 7 weeks, we are still the best team in the country!! Hurley is simply waiting, lurking, has chosen not to press that button. The Creighton loss was strategic.
Yeah, rah rah, Michigan!!!

.-.
There is no knock on Dan Hurley at this point, it’s just that a B2B in isolation doesn’t maintain the title of best coach in the sport in perpetuity.

May wins a title this year in his second year as UM coach after taking FAU to a F4, he quickly joins the discussion. There are already rumors of him to the NBA.
Do you realize how stupid you sound???

Totally - but it resets the playing field. If May runs the tourney this year, after a F4 with FAU and an S16 last year, he'll start getting the nod. Getting to a F4 with FAU is pretty darned impressive.
I cannot WAIT for Michigan to flame out. Will you promise not to post for a month when they do???

Probably 1 or 2 wins. We’ve been exposed. Pitino showed the basketball world our flaws. That’s what a great coach does. We haven’t been the same since. I’ll predict at least one loss to Villanova or St.Johns. We just don’t have any confidence and we’re playing scared basketball. Hurley is actually coaching scared too.

The player - coach dynamic has a very weird vibe this year. In ways it feels like an extension of last year. Collective IQ doesn’t seem like it’s there to process and run the system consistently. Missing so much from what that 24 team did so beautifully. The lobs we’ve talked about, the Clingan passing from the perimeter. Finding cutters.

Maybe Hurley is still running vanilla stuff to save the good for March.

Feels a bit more '23 than '24 with some odd losses, not winning the BET, then crushing in the dance.

Different team, players (almost all), but less dominant despite the record. Seems in a funk on either D for stretches or O for stretches.

Despite the lack of lock down defender, we saw this last year, and our D was significantly better in the Dance, then in the regular season.

We don't have anyone to lob to. It doesn't look all that pretty because we don't get out and run and we don't dunk but the offensive system is fine in terms of moving the ball, we're always great at that but we don't get all the cutting layups like we used to. In those earlier January Big East close wins we were shooting really bad but we were playing great D, now our shooting has come around and we're playing terrible D. The offense isn't the problem, we're 9th in the country in assists. We're never good at getting to the ft line under Hurley but it's a giant problem now, we aren't getting free points. We hardly ever get to the line and when we do it's mostly Tarris getting there and he's a terrible ft shooter.

Its hard to say. We were undermanned those games. But since we have been at full strength we have been wildly inconsistent. So you cant say we are better now than during those games. Nor can you chalk it up to the Big East knowing how to play Uconn when nearly every single game is a struggle.

Illinois - Their best player had not developed yet, they are much better now.

Florida - Wasn't gelled yet, the hottest team in the country right now.

Kansas - Missing their best player.

So yeah we were fortunate to not get everyone's best shot. But being undermanned we still played really well.
