Watch the Nick Williams (#31 in your Program) TD punt return. Just about the end of the run ... there is this Giant exhibiting speed. It is #96. Andreas Knappe from Silkeborg.

Of course he didn't hit anyone, and wasn't in position, to but he is big and quick.

Was that also him who looked very very close to blocking the punt, but ran a 1/2 circle?

He put a block on # 20 at :14 in the video. Didn't make much of a difference, but he did hit someone . . .

No way that guy is 280 pounds. Looks more like 240 to 250.

I still hope this guy becomes an OT.

Obi Malifonwu is currently listed as a safety but he would be a great tight end prospect at 6 - 4, broad shoulders, with obviously the speed of a safety. The guy looked huge at the open practice. If not TE he probably converts to LB at some point.

Safety Ellis Marder looked very impressive as a WR in his youtube video for whatever that is worth. For the first time ever we seem to be well stocked at safety.

I'm all for having our back-up defensive players give it a go on offense during practice. We need to find some playmakers.

He blocks #20 and makes #89 take a somewhat (very slight) longer route right after blocking #20. #89 is the last guy Williams had to beat and he made some contact so it's not unreasonable to think Williams gets pushed out if Knappe doesn't inconvenience both of those guys.

Unless he's limited to 4 years because of his age (or some other factor having to do with being a foreignor), I can't understand why he is playing special teams instead of redshirting. If a true frosh can help you on the two deep, great, but we've burned redshirts for Samra, Joe Williams, Shortell, Floyd and now the Great Dane without having any inkling that any of them are going to help us from scrimmage.

Norris is playing -- that's great. But this is a lot of burned redshirts that just don't seem to be necessary.

that's not Knappe, that's the other 96, senior TE Spencer Parker, a walk-on from Newington. Nice to see him getting some ST time and he did a nice job on the runback.

Can he catch? Might make a good tight end.

Knappe is 21 years old so no point redshirting him if he is to have hope of a pro career.

I watched the tape a couple of times and still think it is Knappe but I could be wrong. How do you know it is Spencer

That was my first thought actually but then everyone seemed to be running with it being Knappe so I assumed I was the wrong one.

Hey guys, you were only off by 5" and 40 lbs. Andreas is definitely redshirting.

If they are in the 2 deep at any point, whether right out of summer camp or they moved in because of injury or they surpassed someone then they need to play, which is what we are saying for all those guys......For Shortell we run a lot of 2 TE sets so he is the back up for both......You can't not get those guys field time and then have to suit them up for every down because you lost a couple of starters due to unforseen injuries......Im all for trying to keep guys around for 5 years but not at the price of the current years team. If they aren't in the two deep and definitely not the three deep then you shouldn't throw them into special teams....But if they are they need to know what they speed of the game is in small increments in case they are tossed into the fire.....

He was referring to Knappe (hence age - he's like 20 already - and foreigner comment) who is a big guy but is pretty raw going by what most have seen or heard about him.
