This is Calhoun-esque defending. Suffocating. In the 2nd half tonight, Memphis got off almost no clean looks. At one point, we had taken 22 shots to their 5 (!!!). Dominant. This defense reminded me of the National championship game against Butler, and this defense can lead us to number 5.

Well part of the lack of shot attempts was due to the combination of going to the line so much and turnovers(credit the D there), but yea, the D looks great right now.

Yeah some of it was them getting to the line, but mostly great D and the turnovers.

Can't stress enough the value Phil brings to the defensive end. What he lacks on offense he doubles on defense. Such a smart player positioning himself to take the amount of charges he does.

We made Memphis look awful. Granted we did foul them a lot which probably kept them out of rhythm a bit, but if you miss 15 free throws you're not winning any game.
