New season has kicked off. I was watching some of Nebraska-Stanford (Huskers crushed them), they showed an upcoming triple header in Nashville. One of the games is going to be on ABC. I'm not sure if the networks ever show womens volleyball, but certainly not regular season matches. That seems like a pretty big deal. I think the featured match is Nebraska-Kentucky.

Not sure if this is recent either but it seems like an emerging trend. The match you referenced is part of a showcase/tournament called AVCA First Serve which is in it's second year. They had a couple games on FOX Friday night.

Nebraska looks great. Penn State/Kansas will be another one worth watching.

The Pitt/Florida game was the best match of the day. A lot of new faces for both teams and a hard fought win for the Gators.

I haven't started watching on TV although we sporadically do; since we watch a lot of college and pro football, volleyball takes a back-seat and then along comes WBB too. We do (always) watch the Semi's and Final, and sometimes the regional championships, but regular season is, as I say, extremely sporadic.

As to our local Arizona Wildcats, they won the volleyball equivalent of the NIT last year. I have no strong feelings, we went to the exhibition against Northern Colorado and Arizona swept them (played 4 sets, won all 4). But the sets were all challenging, and I'm not expert enough to analyze things. We do hope for a good season; we split our tickets this year with a friend and will miss a couple matches during our 3 weeks in Hawai'i. Worse is missing 4 WBB games.

Catching the end of Pitt-TCU. It's on FS1. Haven't heard her name said yet, but it sure sounds like Elise Woodward on the broadcast team. I can't recall hearing her doing volleyball before. She's usually West Coast based as well. This is part of a 4 team event in Pittsburgh. Up next is Penn St.-Arizona St. Then they switch opponents on Monday. Pitt will start their season w/ 4 straight matches against ranked teams. They were 0-2, losing to Nebraska and Florida. Just picked up their first win.

Confirmed, it was Elise.

I love that college volleyball consistently has top matchups in the out of conference.
The volleyball committee uses an “adjusted” RPI that strongly rewards team that schedule strong nonconference opponents. This has worked fantastically well. How I wish they'd do something similar in basketball because so much of the OOC scheduling is atrocious and trending down.
