OT Women's NCAA Volleyball Semifinal Tonight

a lot of great athletes, that could be great basketball players

Texas has a 6'4" freshmen who can jump out of the gym...she should probably give basketball a shot

Good start to BYU-Stanford. Several big momentum swings already. Stanford started 4-1, BYU came back to take 9-5 lead, now Stanford up 15-13.

While this is undoubtedly true, for many athletes volleyball is just more appealing than basketball.

Stanford rolling, now up 19-13.

When Plummer really connects, she hits the ball so darn hard. I would not want to be on the other side of the net trying to dig that up.

Wow, 25-15 set 1 to Stanford. Winning the blocking battle big time.

BYU looks really flustered. Aside from that early run that put them up 7-4, they are getting nothing going on offense, and their passing has been poor.

RJP is hitting negative so far, there's no way BYU can win with her struggling like this.

At 8-4 in set 2 BYU took a timeout. Now they've tied at 9s.

Stanford pulling ahead again 16-10, another timeout for BYU. This has been surprisingly not very competitive so far.

The commentators keep raving about Stanford's libero Hentz. I have to agree, she's been spectacular.

I am with you my PAC12 colleague! Got it on in cold and formerly snowy Stamford, CT

BYU regrouped during the intermission, playing better and leading 12-9 in set 3.

Is it me, or are the announcers a tad subdued...?

Maybe. At least they're mostly on topic, which seems rare during basketball broadcasts.

That was a heck of a rally. Best sequence of volleyball of the night. Stanford gets the point on a block to take a 14-13 lead.

She's the best I've ever seen at the collegiate level for floor defense. Her serve-receive has improved but can still get better.

Stanford just too much tonight 25-18 in set 3, gets the sweep.

countdown to start of match is 20 minutes (8:49 EST currently)

Illinois looked shaky to start but has recovered. 8-7 Nebraska in set 1.

Nebraska has been up by at least 3 several times. Illinois keeps coming back, but hasn't grabbed a lead. 15-14 Nebraska, media timeout.

Illinois finally goes up, forces a Nebraska timeout leading 18-16.

3 straight for Nebraska, Illinois calls a timeout.

This is certainly a more competitive match than the first one. I'm having a hard time figuring out whether Stanford was just completely dominating, or if BYU had a really bad night, or a combination of the 2.

22-21 Illinois, timeout Nebraska. Looks like this set is going down to the wire.
