I learned decades ago that a warmly washed face, left dripping but otherwise bare, accommodates
a blade comfortably. Shaving cream is purely psychological.
Know any waste-of-money stuff?

Diet seltzer, mebbe? Sea salt? Barry Manilow or Justin Bieber albums? Megavitamins? Lifetime subscriptions to the Boneyard Magazine?

I didn't use shaving cream for 26 years of marriage. My wife gave me some that was being sold as a package with my razor blades and, to be honest, there is a difference. I don't use it every day, and I get a "decent" shave, but I wouldn't say shaving cream was purely psychological.

Bottled Water is absolutely a waste - although we keep a few bottles in the refrigerator since moving to Arizona, every once in a while out here you need one. Of course, some places give them out for free. My wife's old boss used to fill old bottles with tap water for the convenience, but we haven't done that as most of our bottles were free to begin with.

What is a waste is many (not all) expiration and "best by" dates. Check out the "real" expiration dates for a lot of stuff on line.

Deodorant. I take frequent showers for enjoyment. If that's not good enough then stand back a little farther.

Pet rocks are very useful just overpriced. I catch them breeding in my yard all the time. However, once caught and trained they are excellent paper holders and are very useful at picnics on a breezy day. They have been known to aid in escapes from locked rooms opening escape routes through windows. Most have been rehabilitated from when they joined openly in public executions although I wish a couple of pet rocks were with me to stop the unwanted visit by a intrusive member of the family that startled my dog and me three Sundays ago.

Only using your razor blades for 3-5 shaves. As long as you clean and dry the blade, one insert is useful for literally hundreds of shaves. Also, shave in the shower (buy a shower mirror that suctions onto the wall for a fraction of the price of new blades). Dollar Shave Club? Hogwash. Try $0.33 shave club.

Bottled water is a waste if you have a Britta or in-fridge dispenser. My tap water has a very distinct chlorine smell to it.

Seltzer water. Soda Streams are under $70 (Less if you can find a deal on eBay) and they pay for themselves within 3 CO2 canisters. Clip Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons and recoup your cash even faster ($5 off coupons are better than the 20% off variety).

Pool algaecide. For the most part, if the water is otherwise properly chemicaled, PH balanced, and vacuumed, it's not worth it.

Selected name brand groceries such as beans, some cereals, condensed soups, frozen veggies, among other items.

Most insurances not covering the home, personal car (non rental), or wellbeing (i.e. health, life, LTD+D, etc.)

Shampoo

well for me anyway.
This may be for you:

Flair Hair Golf, the Hair Hat
The Flair Hair Golf Visor from Flair Hair is a visor hat that comes complete with a full head of shaggy hair, which seems to resemble a shaggy carpet more than hair. While we cannot see Tiger Woods wearing it, if you fancy wearing a rug on your head on the golf course, or indeed anywhere else, you can pick it up at Kotulas for $19.99 - See more at: http://interestingengineering.com/1...-products-ever-invented/#sthash.MyPkrD6E.dpuf

Salad spinner?
Not useless. An indulgence, maybe, but not useless. We liked ours enough to replace it when it broke.

Now, a banana cutter??? Not useful. Always need to be careful around the "gadget" salespeople, lots are useless, in fact - or, even if useful, not something you ever use.
