I have a kid with great grades and ok sats - hoping i can get him into UCONN. Greasing every wheel I can. Most of the people that were there when I was there wouldn't get in today...

She wants to go to school in NYC. Hates Fordham Nyu not an option. Pace is high in her list

Business school is ok - know some accountants that came out of there. Don't really know anything else.

What does she want to study, and does cost matter? Does it need to be in NYC, or would just outside be sufficient?

Liberal arts. Graphic design perhaps. Could see some tech and animation too eventually. In short. She has no idea

Pace over Fordham and NYU?!?!? She sure has no idea and will probably regret it.

There's better options in NYC than Pace.

She won't get into NYU and doesn't dig the religious vibe at Fordham

Baruch?>

I have a friend's kid that goes there and some of the departments are outstanding and it's as diverse as NYC.

That was my thought as well . . .

When I applied in the early 1980's, my SAT's (1190) were better than 67% of my UConn classmates. I got into the business school. Now, I think my scores would put me ahead of just 33% of UConn's freshman class.

Not a bad school, but certainly not worth it at their price. Unless you are rather wealthy or she is getting a full scholarship.

I definitely do know smart kids who have went. being in NYC can't hurt either. my opinion is that it probably isn't worth the extra $ over public school but again I know little about it.

Thanks all. Appreciate the knowledge. FIT and Parsons are too specialized at this point. She wants to start liberal arts but with options to explore so looking for schools with a number of degree options. Stony Brook too far on the island. Haven't explored Marymount or manhattan college. She really likes Pace but we have miles to go befor we sleep on this decision. Thanks all. Enjoy the weekend
