“However, at this important time in UD Athletics, and after thorough evaluation over the past two months, I believe a change of direction is needed in Delaware football. We must reinvigorate our program and reenergize our supporters as we lay the foundation for future success.”

at this important time in Delaware athletics? Is Delaware trying to get into the ACC ahead of us too? Big East?

More to it for sure. Not buying.

They're a state flagship, theyre gunning for the B1G. Trying to get a massive rivalry going against Rutgers and Maryland.

Two years removed from a national title game... went 5-6 but still... Something seems off. This is Delaware not Michigan. His salary wasn't astronomical either.

Funny even Delaware acts more big time than UConn. Fire PP. Fire him today.

So firing a coach=big time? That's pretty strange logic. Programs become big time because they take the time to build something and stick to it even when things look bleak, not by firing a coach every time they lose a game or have a bad season. UD probably just made a huge mistake, but at least TDHusky thinks it makes them look big time.

Yep. Places like Delaware at their level in CAA and Auburn (three seasons removed from national championship) are not satisfied with mediorcre to poor seasons. Maybe it just a New England thing . . . . heck, Carm Cozza coached forever at Yale. Yeah, maybe that's the model UConn's following.

Frank Beamer coached at VTech for 6 years before he made his first bowl game. He's made 20 since. Granted there were fewer bowl games back then, but if he started his career today he'd have been fired and VTech would still be turning in 3-4 win seasons, probably still in the Big East. Anything worth building correctly takes time and patience. That Delaware fired Keeler after an outstanding decade only shows that their new AD is an egotist and most likely an idiot, not that they know what it takes to be big time. The fact that UD hired someone that's been in BC's Athletic Department for the last 14 years leads me to believe they might even be trying to de-emphasize athletics

TDH I think you would agree that if Pasqualoni & company had the matching record Chizik and his crew had the past 2 seasons he would have been fired too. I think the Pitt and Louisville games saved P's job.

Potential OC interview for UCONN???
You know, I've been thinking this as well. His chance to move up to the FBS level and stay somewhat regional. I could see it.

Stay away until the smoke clears - this is the first time UD has EVER fired their FB coach. Think about that while you type "they are acting big time" or "hire the guy". There is a story here, but the Delaware press is even more beholden to UD than we see here. He was a star player, beloved alum, won a NC, and they unexpectedly fired him. This will set them back for years. Stay away until the smoke clears ....

Yeah, but the lack of any previous coach being fired might have something to do with the fact that the iconic Tubby Raymond was there for a very long time.....like 35 years over which he won over 300 and lost about 100. Keeler was the guy that succeeded Tubby.

In Keeler's last few seasons, he may have still been a beloved alum yet was he really a beloved coach? News articles suggested recent declining support, but Keeler may not have been helped by a newly arrived AD from BCU. A Flipper disciple, who in turn hired a former BCU assistant and last year's Rutgers' OC, Dave Brock, as Keeler's replacement. There may be a story, but a wide variety of sentiments are shared on the Blue Hens' football board. The story does not appear to be known by UD fans.
