OT: UCONN Hockey

Was not sure where to park this, but since it involves the Rent I thought this was the best place....

It not not until today that I realized that the largest attendance at a college hockey games is UConn vs Providence 21,673.

yeah Michigan - Michigan state (I think) has been played at the Big House and maybe the Sparties' stadium too.

Michigan and State set the NCAA record for attendance at any collegiate sporting event last year at 113K. Not to mention the BU-BC Fenway game topped 38K, and tonight's UNH-Maine UVM-UMass doubleheader at Fenway (on NESN for any interested in watching) is sold out and expected to approach 38K.

yeah Michigan - Michigan state (I think) has been played at the Big House and maybe the Sparties' stadium too.

The initial game was indeed at Spartan Stadium in 2001, drawing a then-world record crowd of 74,544, and the return trip to Michigan Stadium drew over 109K officially (with a claim of 113k) last year. Only one other game was higher than the "Cold War" at MSU, and that was the opening game of the IIHF world championship in 2010 in Germany (just shy of 78K).

Other college hockey games outdoors have included a 2006 matchup between Wisconsin and Ohio State at Lambeau Field (and an additional game between the two at Camp Randall), last year's Frozen Fenway between BC and BU (drawing a sellout much like this year's UMass-UVM and UNH-Maine draw); there will be a Michigan-Ohio State matchup next weekend at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
