OT: UCONN Hockey had a nice win

Beat Hockey East member UMass-Lowell 3-2 in overtime to run their record to 2-1-1.

Every year they seem to pull an upset or a near upset at the beginning of the year over a quality team...raising my hope that they might have a decent season. Then, every year, they seem to get worse and worse as the season goes on. Hopefully this year is different....but I have seen this show before!

they were pretty solid last year. They have a bunch of good young players who know how to put the puck in the net. But with zero scholarships they are going to struggle at times. Still, I'm optimistic about htis year if Bartus stays healthy...might be nice to give him a little rest from time to time, too.

If we can get better revenues through football affiliations, we might have a scholarship hockey program in a matter of time.

The issue is that if UConn gave out scholarships for hockey they would have to give out more for a women's sport. So I don't see it happening anytime soon

I am sure they can find another women's sport to add. Certainly would take time to put together.
