Tiger did not merely win events in a pedestrian way, which is possible to a certain extent. He did incredible things that no one was even imagining before he came on the scene.

How does he make it exciting?

His dominance, his shot making, his aura, his life story, his brand, his name, breaking through a stereotypically "white" sport to become synonymous with the word "golf".

I don't think words do it justice how Tiger Woods makes golf exciting in a way others can't.

let's not get overly excited. This is a <20 person field and the course is relatively benign.

Yes, having Tiger shoot two rounds in the 60's is better than two rounds of 75+ but I'm holding out to see how he does against a full field in a top notch event.
