OT- Thyroid 0peration Update

Hope you make that flight. Would love to hear about your experience, Thanks for your service, Sarges' service and all others here on the BY.
Space A was great when I was on active duty. Particularly, when I was stationed in Guam, we received a higher priority for moral and welfare to allow travel home every 3 months. without that priority, particularly at smaller military air bases, I have been caught and had to pay full price to travel commercial when space A was not available.

I had the drain tube removed on late Friday morning and while I'm feeling much better with it out, it's still sore. Friday was the first time that I slept in my bed instead of my easy chair because I use a C-Pap and the Dr. said that it would be safer with the hose in the chair than the bed.

I have to put vasaline on both the stitches and the drain site 3 times a day to keep it moist and safe since it needs to be aired out. I also have to stay out of direct sun-lite unless the incision site is covered so that it eventually will less noticeable in the long run.

I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and will keep you updated if there are any changes.

I'm currently restricted to lifting nothing over 30 pounds and no direct sunlight. I still put vasaline on the scar at least once a day. The 30 pound restriction is until I see my Endocrinologist at the VA on 7/21.

Take it day by day. The doctor didn't suggest vitamin E cream on the scar?

They successfully removed my left thyroid and decided that my right was not needed to be removed. So it was great news to hear when I woke up. Just got home about an hour ago and my better half is picking up my prescriptions at the VA Hosp. Have a drain tube attached until the 20th.
Great

Sounds great - success. But why the removal? I've had Thyroid issues for years, but no advice on removal.

Ditto - I’ve been on thyroid meds for probably 30 years now.

If it isn’t too intrusive Sarge, it would be interesting to know what you were facing.

But most important, great to hear you’re recovering.

Best wishes for a full and complete recovery.
Don't know if you remember me but we met at circus circus in Reno. You gave my wife and I a ride to Gabby Williams homecoming game.
If I remember right I was the one who told you about the boneyard.
JD, I missed this post completely. I do remember you and your wife. You were wearing a UConn baseball cap in the casino and I commented on it. Then asked if you were there for the game. If I remember correctly you stated that you and your better half was going to walk to the Lawlor Events Center and I offered you a ride. After the game we drove back and had to park in a different garage because of police activity in the area. When we finally arrived back at the CC we sat in the cafe and talked while I had a late dinner.

I'm so thankful that you informed me about the Boneyard and I'm happy that I now know your handle. I hope that you and the misses are enjoying celebrating #12. My only regret on that day is that I didn't get to see KLS play, that was the main reason for me driving from Vegas to Reno to watch the Huskies. It was nice seeing Kia and Gabby tear the Wolf Pack apart being that I'm a Rebel fan.

The left thyroid was enlarged and was getting close to the heart. They decided it may become an issue if it continued its growth.

Stay strong MSGRET. One step at a time to success. I still place you on the prayer list at church.

I am so glad that you are recuperating and getting better every day. My wife says to say hello and thank you again for giving us a ride to the arena. We are still traveling to see women's UConn games but are restricting ourselves to the East Coast. We have been going to the UBS arena on Long Island to watch them play St John's. And almost always get center Court seats.
When you're feeling better you should come out and see a game in Storrs.
