The greatest putdown line in the history of movies came in "The Carpetbaggers" when Jonas Cord (George Peppard) said to cowboy actor Nevada Smith (Alan Ladd) as he was leaving, "Don't try to act your way out the door, you'll never make it."

From Fat Man and Little Boy, 1989:

"Hey Oppenheimer! Oppenheimer! You oughta stop playing God, 'cause you're no good at it, and the position's taken!"

Two come to mind, both from Disney.

"Oh Scar, it's just you. We thought it was somebody important."

"Isn't it rather difficult to use one's entire vocabulary in a single sentence?"

Rhonda Rousey to Sylvester Stallone in Expendables 3: "...if you were 30 years younger."

From "The Big Country":
Chuck Conners: "Did you want me Pa?"
Burl Ives: "Before ya was born I did."

Since it was asking for great put downs...

I don't want to talk to you no more you empty-headed animal food-trough water. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

Saw a good one on NCIS LA a while back ...
A male and female agents were watching a video of a man getting carjacked for his Porsche...The male says " That's why I don't drive a Porsche"...
The female says" I can think of 90,000 other reasons you don't drive a Porsche."

During a conversation one man says to the others..."That's why I'm not married." And in response her gets..."Yeah, THAT'S why you aren't married"

Beverly Hillbillies. Jed Clampett to Jethro
"I don't know what I'd do without you Jethro, but I'm willing to give it a try"

Another favorite...
Ohh, this is the worst-lookin' hat I ever saw. You buy a hat like this, I'll bet you get a free bowl of soup. ...Oh it looks good on you though.

"He's the only man I know who can strut sitting down"..E.K. Hornbeck (Gene Kelly) referring to Matthew Harrison Brady (Fredric March) in Inherit the Wind"

In the western, The Professionals, I think. The Lee Marvin character is called a bastard. His reply was, "In my case, an accident of birth. You, sir, are a self-made man."

From the movie SHANE.

Alan Ladd to Jack Palance.

"I heard you were a low down Yankee liar."

One of best putdowns of all time comes from one of the best movies of All Time in Glengarry Glen Ross with the famous scene between Ed Harris and Alec Baldwin.

EH "Whats your name?"
AB "F$%K you that's my name!"
AB "You know why mister, because you drove a Hyundai to get here and I drove an $80,000 BMW that's my name!"
