CRAWFORD | The defense rests: After 10-hour hearing, Louisville's fate now in NCAA's hands

>>It was a long day. Louisville’s hearing in front of the NCAA committee on infractions began at 8:30 a.m. at The Westin Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. It didn’t end until nearly 7:30 Thursday night. In between, NCAA enforcement officials made their case against U of L in the matter of a salacious sex-for-recruits and players scandal that rocked the program in October of 2015 after the publication of a book by former Louisville escort Katina Powell. U of L athletics director Tom Jurich and men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino presented their rebuttals, with committee members asking questions of the coach and U of L representatives.<<

BOZICH | What's at stake for Louisville basketball, Pitino with NCAA? Everything

>>LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Daniel Tosh is a comedian revered because he’ll say anything for a laugh. What he said during his show at the KFC Yum! Center Wednesday night was exactly what you’d expect a world-class wise guy to say. Wearing a University of Louisville basketball jersey on stage, Tosh thanked everybody for their hospitality – especially the hookers waiting backstage.<<

Overheard at the NCAA meeting:

NCAA official #1:
“Which rug should we sweep this under?”

NCAA official #2:
“I don’t know. That entire half of the hall is devoted to UNC’s academic fraud scandal…by the way that corner needs another throw-rug or two…Did their ping-pong team take any of those fake classes? We can always delay a decision with more accusations.”

“As far as Louisville is concerned, though, I just don’t know.”

NCAA official #1:
“I’m thinking wall-to-wall carpeting.”

NCAA official #2:
“Yeah, me too, let’s go with that.”

We heard faster about our APR sanctions than we did for Boatrights eligibility. But these 2 have whores all over players dorms while students are taking their classes and tests/papers and we're still having hearings?

Gotta love the NCAA, might as well be run by Vito Genovese.

Emmert we take these charges very seriously! I hereby declare a 3year tournament ban, 2 scholarship reductions for 4 years and Pintino is banned from coaching conference games for the 2017-2018 season!

Staffer: sir, they're in the ACC now

Emmert: Lol nevermind!

They'll punish ul long before anything is done about unc Then come will drag it out in court while the ncaa lays down and loses the case

Curious on what grounds do you think this would occur?

the NCAA has lost some big cases, yes, but they were for major things like violating the Sherman Act or denying athletes the right to legal counsel.

UConn to receive death penalty for "looking on a lot of women with lust, and committing adultery in their heart many times"

From the NCAA website:

NCAA Core Values
The Association - through its member institutions, conferences and national office staff - shares a belief in and commitment to:

  • The collegiate model of athletics in which students participate as an avocation, balancing their academic, social and athletics experiences.
  • The highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship.
  • The pursuit of excellence in both academics and athletics.
  • The supporting role that intercollegiate athletics plays in the higher education mission and in enhancing the sense of community and strengthening the identity of member institutions.
  • An inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds.
  • Respect for institutional autonomy and philosophical differences.
  • Presidential leadership of intercollegiate athletics at the campus, conference and national levels.

Hey, don't disparage Vito by associating him with the evil slimebags that run the NCAA! The NCAA is run by far worse scum than Vito. We were once neighbors of his, living in the same town. Vito was a good neighbor...very quiet. ;)

Vito was a man of honor.

NCAA will place sanctions on the UL womens water polo and mens fencing team as a punishment
For window dressing, UL will put in place a self punishment - no women in the mens basketball living spaces during the months of June and July in both2017 and 2018 and Pitino cannot eat in any Italian restaurants in Louisville during those months (he has a place in Sarasota Springs NY he lives in during the summer for the horse races).
F the NCAA

Perhaps they can get it grandfathered since Pitino has been doing this stuff for a long time.

Emmert be on the political side of "just enough" to keep his seven-figure salary.

The whisper is the NCAA will take away 2 hookers for each of the next 2 years. Tough to bring in multiple recruits with only 1 hooker available.

I was going to make a joke about Jennifer Lawrence being their last hooker, but then I realized she's really good looking, and I'm not willing to give Louisville any good publicity at all... ;)
