ko up into this year was 99% responsible for the 2 recruit classes before he was named HC. JC took him out to places to form relationships with coaches and handlers. ko and kh did all the work on the trail. we already new(well some of us screaming about it here..)they could recruit. what warde did was turn off all the momentum he had on the trail for a bit with non locals who knew what was up. see as soon as warde gave the 7 moths bs no matter how much u want to evaluate him, it screms of something and w/e that is other coaches and influencers are screaming the excuses on the trail. mix that with our fall lockdown on admissions that i have yet to understand why it happened and warde set us back on the trail.

anyone who got a glimspe of ko/kh or anyone who had faith in every dam frucking thing JC built here knew we were in good hands. cept for 1 jacass, his name is warde. we could have had a 4 man class or samuel, facey, bell and xrm all signed early. warde destroyed that. instead this staff spent a good amount of there time as result having to search high and low on the trail looking for a servicable big. eventually they found it. but were having trouble finding a 4th player(guard). we have mostly moved on to 2014 class stuff. now with bazz and wolf, we need to regear to 2013 stuff and go on a huge search again. see, we could have had 4 studs locked up early and now be looking for just 1 player and its not a big deal with 2 play asap bigs in the class and a top notch guard who is play asap in xrm. but we dont. we have 1 big who will play and a thabet project. now were going to kill a lot of extra time that could be used on our team on the trail becuase of warde. 2014 recruits are getting visited as much as we were able to before. see kids like it when u go to there games and practices a lot. thats why the big boys lock up recruit classes early and get to the next years class. being a year ahead helps a huge amount. once u lock up a class u move to the next and get that class locked up. when your a year ahead, u get kids to bite early becuase your able to pay more attention than others. but warde has no clue about that kind of stuff becuase he came from a school that i dont even know if they play bball.

warde was willing to hold up our bball progam to his standards, w/e they are he wanted to see ko himself. i dont agree with it but many do here it still seems. u will all be the same jerks next year who complain about olander and so on when we have a 6 man rotation and no depth. i have to ask, how can so many ppl here be ok with warde handling ko, but then give him another pass with not doing anything with p or gdl????? dont tell me he made gdl switch positions. if u honestly think that has happened, then your out of your mind. how many times to u have to read the syracuse saga with these 2 to realize its happening again and the guy who gets paid 400k to run your favorite sports team just fell for it. its like in todays age if a 30 year old well off guy who makes a good living with a college degree opens up a email from the price of some african country and decides its a good idea to invest in the gold rich land the email shows pictures of. give me a break.

No one goes all in on stupid like HFD.

Can anyone else imagine what it would be like to work in a business with Dan in charge? I just had a vision. Holy sh8t. It would be complete chaos. Somehow, I have no doubt, that things would be successful, based on the fact that the product or service, would be valueable enough to sustain itself regardless of how it's managed. It would be crazy, and I mean, "but it's the truth , even if it didn't happen" one flew over the cuckoo's nest crazy. And FWIW - I applaud the ability to make people that crazy. That's impressive. it's talent. People would be going nuts, just trying to figure out thecontent of interoffice memo's.....never mind greater things - like actually getting something productive done.

If it ever happens, that you're in charge of a lot of people, on a daily basis - Dan - I want to know where, because I'm going to put two package stores, each one in a location about a 5 minute drive with easy in and out parking in either direction from the exit of the employee's parking lot. Then I'm going to retire on a boat in the Caribbean on the liquor sales profits.

The old saying is "choose your battles wisely".

There is a much greater, and more important battle out there, regarding Warde Manuel, and it's the complete lack of a marketable football schedule beyond 2013. There's nothing to market, because there is nothing there to see.

u have no clue the person i am off this message board carl.

Absolutely correct. But that doesn't change the fact, that if the image you project here, was to reflect an actual management style in the business world, that I would be very much inclined to try to capitalize on the drinking habits of the employees.

I really didn't mean anything offensive. Chaos managment is a real thing pal.

lol i am in no such position to portray any managemnt on a message board. i have my fun here pretending and bit*hing and moaning about uconn things is part of that. i just hate whats going on so i'm willing to clown it up and put pressure any way i can on uconn. read wardes comments from last night. ppl in significant #'s who just dont come here and post like i do were hammering warde. it wasn't a 1 man show i was putting on going after warde. ppl were upset with the fball situation, but the ko one put it over the top for many. i wasn't alone. he completely admits the ko situation with this fanbase this past fall and the outcry he got until he man'd up and fixed it.

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

But that's ok. It gets people thinking - about what? I don't know - but it's better than being brain dead.

And if Warde had given him a deal and we are 10-12 right now he would be ranting about it being end of days.

HFD...are you ever off this board? Just say'n...Do you actually have time for a job. If you are handicapped please forgive me.
Love your passion but it is often misdirected....
Have you ever thought for a minute that this was all JC's fault for being a stubborn bastard and demanding to play the role of out going coach and AD also?
He purposely put off his announcement of retiring which put a brand new AD behind the 8 ball. This hurting the school for possible recruits.
Warde was in a damn if you do and damn if you don't situation. That and came out shining, he is a good man and I am sure will be good for us.

This is awesome.

Since I've ignored HFD, I just get to see the reaction to his comments, not the actual nonsensical blather that comes from a guy that's always trying to out think the room and is the epitome of a know it all, who actually knows nothing. I get to imagine the madness, without having to read it. Reading them was the insufferable part, imagining the idiocy of the posts is humorous part.

Now this is something. Usually some BYers take pleasure in bashing Carl on things fb, but he's getting kudos in this thread for things bb. I was LMAO over the CS - HFD dialogue. Whatta way to end the work week.

First point I do recognize this is the football board.
Second I am not coming here to defend HFD, in general. I get it.

However with regard to his point on WM he is simply being hyperbolic as usual. And I get his point, in fact I share his view (kinda).

You guys are just missing the point and probably just not paying attention.

The underlying premise that WM actions (with respect to KO) were basically in WM best interests and not in the best interests of CT basketball or the University is the sentiment of many, if the not majority, of knowledgeable and passionate CT basketball fans, who felt WM initial handling of the transition was lets just say "not good" (my personal feeling are in fact much stronger).

KO's position to recruit was compromised by his tenuous contract making UConn vulnerable to negative recruiting (hopefully this concept does not need further explanation to football centric readers). It was obvious that WM was in a difficult position (for WM), rubber stamping the hand picked successor to HOF coach
JC did nothing for his credibility and ego....so he structured the "deal" as a win/win for WM.

Thing is that many bb folk familiar with KO's long established character, accomplishments and work ethic, had no doubt KO was the perfect choice. KO established himself as an effective recruiter, possessed copious bb knowledge gleaned fromtutelage under many HOF caliber coaches, mentored all star NBA talent and was Husky true blue hand picked by "the man",HOFC, the guy who built the program. Most felt the buyout option was the better alternative to what WM did.

Nevertheless what really irked many was how long this thing played out and what some recruits said influenced their decisions to go elsewhere and how unnecessary this saga was.

As play commenced any doubts even to the casual observer, regarding KO abilities were put to rest, yet he was still held in limbo with a 7 mo contract.

WM finally did the right thing, most everyone agrees, in December.
It was time to exhale and celebrate, UConn had their man although a bit late for 2013 recruiting.

Anyone who thinks WM did a good job with KO has just not paid attention.
This could have gone south very easily (and probably would have for just about 99% of the population not named KO).
The fact that it didn't was no thanks to WM.

KO is the one who is just that good.
It was obvious long before December to anyone that paid attention.

KO did it preaching "ten toes in".....and in reality, thanks to WM, KO did it with both hands tied behind his back. Thanks WM, big props, NOT ;)
