According to Brad Wolverton of the Chronicle of Higher Education, the University of Texas is facing allegations of academic misconduct involving a number student-athletes, namely its basketball players, during the Rick Barnes era.

I hope they punish the Coach only and not the players, that would be a tragedy of major proportion. If the Tennessee players get punished (via collateral damage) then they need to protest and the SEC should get behind them.

I was replying to the answer that the departing Coach does get punished. My statement applied to an 'if 'Barnes does get punished' then I hope its only him at TN and not the players.

I don't know how this stuff works or past history.

We'd be naive to think this kind of stuff on some levels doesn't happen at every D1 school. I went to a D3 school that was really good at basketball when I was there and there was shady things going on even there.

You're right. The punishment will come down on some poor ACC school. UT happens to be the alma mater of the guy that helps dish out the punishments
