18. Off the top of my head, soprano, coloratura and mezzo. There are probably others.
20. Joseph Welch was general counsel for the army at the McCarthy hearings. When McCarthy accused a young lawyer on Welch's staff of having once been a communist (the young lawyer had briefly been a member of some left-leaning group that was legal), Welch objected to the smear and made his famous remark to McCarthy about "no sense of decency."

14. Harrison? As a side note (I hope I'm remembering this right) Taft was the person that brought about the seventh inning stretch. After sitting for so long in the cramped little chair, he got up to stretch his considerable frame. Secret Service naturally followed and so did everyone else near him who didn't know what else to do. And a tradition was born.
15. If show means third place then Keen Ice
18. Soprano, mezzo soprano
20. Lawyer Jim Welch to red-scare demagogue Sen. Joe McCarthy

20. Said ??? to Joe McCarthy
23. The Fosbury Flop in 1968. In all honesty, I disliked it and never thought it would catch on. It is great that the person who created it was the gold medalist at the 1968 games.
24. Opposites charges attract, like charges separate(BTW, you might be missing a "b" in coulomb)

19. Texaco

21. I think..... Protestants have a separate commandment against graven images while the Catholic Church incorporates it into the first commandment. The Catholic Church separates the commandments against coveting while Protestants combine them into one.

25. Capital sins

btw.....some Protestant denominations use the Catholic Church's traditional listing.

20. Joseph Welch went on to appear as the presiding judge in the
film "Anatomy of a Murder", a film which featured one of the first
film appearances of George (who the heck is THAT guy) C. Scott.

14..K9 is correct about Benjamin Harrison.. Baseball is so old.

15..Crown & K9 say the rink is a go.

16..Hoop, being paranoid, behaves similarly to the praying mantis.

17..There's a more helpful phrase for understanding than provided by Pinot. What?

18..Technically, the mezzo is its own classification for a voice between the soprano and contralto.
Coloratura (rbny & hoop), lyric, spinto are soprano types.

19..JC provides Texico, but the full name has 2 other words. What?

20..K9 is there. Rbny with more detail. Ed4 with an interesting sidelight.
Anyway, eventually the Senate got some moxie to censure ol' Joe, and afterwards, whenever he spoke, members made noises to drown him out.

21..JC has a pretty good handle. I would add that most Prots rebelled vs. the Catholic practice of statues and busts and paintings of saints,
feeling they were a distraction to divine worship. Catholics have a concept of praying to saints to "intercede" with God.

23..Well, at least Meyers tries to answer 50% of the questions seriously. His quartet provides the Fosbury Flop.

22..Can you hear Pinot warbling, From the Halls of Montezuma to...

24..You know the little white dog and the little black dog who repel each other? Besides being a statement of our unfortunate race relations, see VAUC.

25..JC has one; K9 the other.

Think more about 17 and 19, por favor.
