21..Two guesses...both too recent.

Geordi & vtc show themselves to be of vastly differnt tongues, probably cause vtc's family leave out
the onions & bacon. Sad for them.

WC - My wife is just a couple of generations off the boat. Her version uses ham instead of bacon. Like most Irish cuisine it should have stayed in the old country.

14..It's Karzai, provided by 64BA.

15..A passel of you cite Bluebonnet Margarine.

16..Regis leads a quartet with bauxite.

17..JEFFERSON, say geordi and a trio.

18..64BA is alone with Mae West.

19..Knights & ed4 are accurate in putting it during the Civil War.

20..You were not thrown by vtc's doubts. It is Mark Twain.

21..1917

22..Faye Wray--tons of you, but I single out Regis for knowing the more obscure fact that the role is Ann Darrow.

23..The no-longer-in-existence Palisades Park (I made many a youthful visit) by Freddie Cannon.
Credit to our 2 V's and 64BA.

25..Ed4 as a solitary poster with Uranus.

Always a pleasure, and now we settle and await the announced match-ups.

WC- This quote was used as a poster's signature in another forum recently. There was some discussion about attribution. You can find lots of web sites that identify it as a Twain quote but none of them provide any source.

I'll refer you to the Quote Investigator. (S)He credits it to a man named Ebenezer Hoar. According to the editor of the "Mark Twain Quotes Repository" - probably the best Twain source on the internet . . . "there is no evidence that links Mark Twain to the funeral quote”
