Morsi tried to give himself absolute power, including the ability to dictate laws that are not subject to parliamentary review. Then he backed off rather than being drawn and quartered. The riots continue.

She and I had a mutual friend, now deceased, who told me many stories about what a charming and intelligent lady she is. Yes, I would follow her to Paris, but the gendarmes would probably arrest me for stalking.

Not so apparent. Your comment indicates that Hull "lost his nerve." While he was convicted by Courts Martial IIRC there was no evidence presented that Hull was a coward. Most historians agree that he may have made serious errors of judgement by overestimating the size of the opposing forces but in his "Report of the Trial of Brigadier General William Hull" he makes a fairly good case supporting his decision to surrender.

Not so to prevent the court martial. It did take a presidential pardon to save him from execution. There are sources that question his stability, at least while in command there.
