Well compensated but tough profession...

Did Haden hire Lane Kiffin also? If so, how does he survive this?

Haden has to go. Two awful hires for one of the nation's top programs is no good. We got rid of our AD after one bad hire!

Haden fired Lane Kiffin, but he didn't hire him. But, he hired Sarkisian. It's hard to understand that USC didn't know about Sark's issues given he had been an assistant at USC for 7 years.

My bad. I thought he hired Kiffin too. I agree with you, they had to know the risks with Sark.

Unbelievable how a AD like Haden still has a job.

Sarkisian's alcohol issues began to surface while he was head coach at Washington. Haden surely knew or should have known. Sarkisian's wife filed for divorce in April of this year and that seemed to send him over the edge.

Alcohol doesn't care about status, wealth, age or gender.

Its record of ruining lives is almost as good as p-ssy.
When I saw the headline, my heart sank.
This is very sad and the effect is insidious and profane. My heart and prayers go out to him and his family (children). Hopefully, he can
get the proper treatment for his disease and save his life and health. This is so much more, a thousand times more... than football. An unfortunate, incredibly powerful life's lesson to those in the USC locker room.

A person with deeper insight and perspective than me would juxtapose the UConn Mac and Cheese kid with Sarkisian and see the differences in their age, position in the cycle of life and see how alcohol treated both of 'em like rag dolls.

I might be the only one here who feels this way, but I hope mac and cheese kid can self reflect and get some help too.

I would hope everyone wants the kid to recover and have a productive life. Same for Sarkisian. Addiction leads to ugly, embarrassing behavior. It doesn't excuse it nor should society dismiss it. Confront and demand changes in behavior along with a monitored recovery program.

I mentioned it in the mac n cheese thread. While people were knocking him for being a jerk, all I could think of was how bad I felt for him. He is headed for lifetime of knockouts literally and figuratively if he doesn't get that addressed. Recently a female co worker of mine lost her job in large part due to alcohol. Almost everyone in the office tried to help her, and she would burn everybody real bad including yours truly. In the end no one would try to help her and even though you felt bad she was treated like a grenade, you didn't want to get hit by the shrapnel.

Sark get no sympathy from me. He knows he has a problem. There are lots of treatment facilities available for him. He then takes big money from USC without addressing his demons. This isn't on Haden. It's on Sark. It's called personal responsibility.

Agree on the personal responsibility front (lacking more and more these days) but it's on Haden for hiring him and not putting checks and balances in place to prevent it from reflecting negatively on the school (before and after the Booster event incident). That's his job.

Oof.
