For Red Sox fans who are also Huskies fans and used to celebrating Husky statistics of all and wondrous kinds, my guess is that a review of the Red Sox series statistics will be seem more than a bit bizarre.

How about this: the Red Sox won in 6 games but had 73 strikeouts in the process. Amazing! 17+15+11+10+8+12 = 73.

Great series. Lots of terrific pitching and a few big hits by the Sox won it for them. And some terrific defense.

Detroit had 50 hits, Red Sox 39. Means nothing. The payoff is in wins.

You are absolutely right! Timely hitting matters. It's not "how many" but "when" that was critical for the Sox. Those two grand slams (two swings of the bat) were the difference in the series. :)

The Green Monster, took away two home runs last night, too. One for each team. A great Fenway game.

Are you forgetting the Napoli home run to win game 4, 1-0? In addition to those three timely and dramatic swings. . .

The Detroit starters were consistently excellent while the Red Sox starters were inconsistent.

The Detroit bullpen was consistently undependable while the Red Sox relievers were simply [insert extreme positive superlative descriptor here].

"They had 'em all the way!"

As I said last night, the story of the series: Strikeouts and Slams
Like fire and ice, yin and yang, a series of opposites.
