He will linger in Mets history. Never get to another World Series and even with this the Yankees still own NewYork. The only place NewYork will feel like home is in Citi Field. He will be heckled and hated by the majority of NewYorkers. Go out to dinner and hear how much he is hated.

He made a huge mistake for his legacy. The Mets I mean it’s the Mets. I truly hope NewYorkers make him feel as unwelcome as possible. Just walk around Manhattan 15 Yankee hats to 1 Mets hat. That is the public sentiment he will get and we will be loud every where he goes.

Our job is to make him hear this every where he goes in New York.
Sounds like someone needs a wahmbulance!

You can post when you win number three. You want to see what this does. Look at the Lions and Rams. The Rams made the Lions the freaking Lions by selling out to get Stafford. Yeah they won one Super Bowl. Is it worth it if you win number four. And by the way look who will be hitting in front of Soto. This was not about ego it was about a player with o character wanting to be the man. It’s funny because you can troll all you want and that’s cool. But remember revenge is a dish best served cold. You think this is great for the Mets……..you have a felon for an owner and a classless star. Him and Lindor deserve each other. C

I love Soto, but I have no problem with the Yankees walking away from that deal.
Yanks offered 47.5 million a year, Mets 51.

3.5 million a year was a deal breaker. Gotta have money for cleats too.

The worst thing that has happened to the NYY recently is GEORGE passed away!
I've said it here before and I'll say it again if George was still alive the Yankees would have won at least 4 WS, since 2009, signed Bryce Harper & and T.J. Reamuto 5 years ago.
If NY can't have Soto, Hal has to spend $600 million/or trade on Christian Walker, Cody Bellinger, Anthony Santander, Alex Bregman, Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, Walker Buehler, Tanner Scott and Jeff Hoffman!
Without those players above we won't even make the Playoffs next season let alone the WS!

So it may be fake stat but how off is it. The Yankee cap outsells all others by a considerable margin world wide. And if you think there are more Mets fans in New York than Yankee fans then you would be wrong.

Are there more Islander fans than Rangers fans.

And what happened when the Nets tried to be New York’s favorite basketball team. Durant, Harden and Irving. How did that work out.

New York has a way to make the greatest a bit smaller if they stumble, re: Aaron Rodgers.
So what you’re saying is Juan Soto should have chosen the Yankees because they have more fans? What a lame source of reasoning you seem to be going down….just admit you have sour grapes and be done with it

This is why it is so sweet for Met fans to get Soto. We had to watch as the cheap Wilpons fake tried to compete by getting Jason Bays while passing on the Matt Hollidays. All the while the Yankees loaded up with whomever they wanted. Picking up washed up dudes at the end of their careers like Robinson Cano. Hoping to everyone once in a while catch lightning in a bottle like they did with Yoenis Cespedes and making a lucky run every decade in a half. Steve Cohen has ended the suffering of Met fans on that front. They will be players for the top dudes. He is now paired up with Lindor and some young home grown hitters like Alvares and Vientos. Love the New Mets.

I can troll all I want? You're the one in a Mets thread crying like a baby with a wet diaper.

There is nothing you can say to dispute the 2 following statements:

1) This was a great day for the Mets.
2) This was a really bad day for the Yankees.

Good luck this year.

The best thing that happened was George being suspended over the Winfield scandal.

Yankees had Soto this season for a relative song and came up short because no one at the bottom of the order could hit or defend well enough and at the end they had a bullpen full of guys who threw mostly change-ups.

This feels like a Herchel Walker situation where losing a star might be the better result.

I also doubt it was only $5M a year. I'm certain the bidding went multiple rounds and the Mets were clearly going to keep upping the bid. No issue with the Yanks tapping out. Judge got $40M/yr last season. The Mets will now be paying Soto until he is 41 when he could be done productively way sooner.

Yanks need a top starter, three bullpen arms including a closer, a 1B, a 2B, and a LF. Put Dominguez in CF and Judge back in RF, then go find 3 guys who can hit better than 270 with OPS over 800 and catch the ball.

So, of course you're going to try and find the silver lining. I would do the same if I just lost a player of Soto's caliber to the crosstown team and had no real plans on how to replace him right now.

I do think it's a little funny to talk about his "inevitable demise" and how he's going to be cooked when he's barely scratching at the front steps of his prime. The reference to Albert Pujols above? Pujols was 32 when he got to the Angels. Not 26. From 25-31, Pujols won 3 MVPs and finished 2nd once. Isn't that more like the Soto the Mets are getting?

LOL! The only reason they won 4 in the 90's was because Steinbrenner was suspended.
