OT- Songs of Personal Loss

Country music has many sad songs. Hank Williams both wrote and sang the most touching songs on the country charts, based on his own life experiences. Here's one of his best..."hear that lonesome whippoorwill"...

Thought of another from the same singer. One of the most chilling songs I know. She and Shelby Lynne are sisters. This is about the murder/suicide that took both of their parents away from them.

Okay, there is a newer version of the song, but I prefer the original. It's a hidden track, you have to skip to about 4:25 to hear it. It's called "Cold Cold Earth."

Whoa! I thought I might be the only person left who remembers Shelby Lynne. If I make a Christmas card list this year, you'll be on it. :D

She is wonderful.

Her album "I Am Shelby Lynne" blew up, but she seemed to pretty much disappear after that.

Let It Be - Beatles
Wake Me Up When September Ends - Green Day
The Living Years - Mike and the Mechanics
Fix You - Coldplay
Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.
Ordinary World - Duran Duran

And I hesitate to mention it because I've always hated this song and still do, but it was the first damned thing that came to mind: Honey - Bobby Goldsboro
