I have a book containing the complete lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein. "Oklahoma," "South Pacific," " Carousel," "Sound of Music," and many more.
"Oh, what a beautiful mornin', oh what a beautiful day. . . ."
"I'm as corny as Kansas in August, high as the flag on the fourth of July. . . ."
"Some enchanted evening, you may see a stranger, acrss a crowded room. . .then fly to her side -- and make her your own!"
"If I loved you, words wouldn't come in an easy way. . .. ."
"You'll Never Walk Alone."
There is an apocryphal tale that a woman was heard heaping praise on composer Sigmund Romberg: "Oh, what a thrill to meet the great man who wrote 'Old Man River'!" Oscar Hammerstein's wife overheard this gushing and spoke up: "This gentleman wrote 'dah-dah-da-da, da-dah-dah-da-da.'
My husband wrote 'Old Man River.'"
