This thread has given my an enhanced understanding of my classifications. If it has melody, it is R & B.
If it doesn't have melody, I call it soul.

Here's some more melody.

One of my favorite R&B Female groups of all time .... and not a bad looking group to look at back in the day

I was in love with Dawn... but of course she didn't know it

I Do Love You - Billy Stewart

Cry Baby - Garnett Mimms and the Enchanters

Ha.... havent heard that name Shalamar in years.. they had one of my favorite songs in the 80s. Dancing in the Sheets.... not a soft R&B song... but a great peppy song.
On Footloose Soundtrack.

Float On is just the best. Especially when the last guy says, "Sharing your love with Larry".

Shalamar was a great group. Did you know that two of the three members were former Soul Train dancers. (Jodi Watley and Jeffrey Daniels.
I knew Jeff Daniels was a musician, didn't realize he was a dancer too.

Known as the front man for Toots and the Maytals and can be seen solo as Toots Hibbert. So glad I saw him in the early 90s but now am jonesin for another show:

It's Gonna Take A Miracle - The Royalettes

The Bells - Laura Nyro and Labelle
