From the soccer world, Ray Hudson is one of a kind. A couple of his musings;

Real Madrid’s defense is stretched out like spandex on Miami Beach

Lionel Messi, man, is like a zombie hunter looking for a Twinkie

Defending this team is like trying to nail Jell-O to a ceiling

Don’t look for him in Xs and Os, he doesn’t live there. He doesn’t live in the tactical world, or the technical world, he lives in the magnetic spectrum of genius

Wait!

How could we possibly have forgotten the inimitable Andres Cantor??????!??!!?

Same call but with live action instead of pictures.

"Oh my!" -- Dlck Enberg

"Holy Cow!" -- Harry Caray

"You're looking live..." -- Brent Musberger

"I want to kiss you." -- Joe Namath :)

Far better than that Michael Buffer nonsense, in my view.

Bill Raftery - "with the kiss" and "send it in, Jerome" and a little "lingerie on the deck".
Man-to-man. Said so fast it blurs together. Raft is the best. Love him with Jay Bilas and Sean McDonough.

Back to my OP, about correct use of the old Bob Prince/Pittsburghese line.

The Broons won last night in double overtime. The Penguins outplayed them for most of the very long game, but were unable to overcome Rask's indomitable goaltending (he made 53 saves). So it may be said by Boston fans with utmost homage to the spirit of that old Yinzer line:

"We had 'em all the way!"

Now you see how it's done. Just add a wink when you use it.;)

.-.
Not in the league of some of the above but current fill-in NESN analyst [for Remy] has a habit of saying
after anything good happens for the Sox 'it's a beautiful thing'.

"I cant believe what my eyes just saw"
Jack Buck announcing the Kirk Gibson home run in the world series

Yes, that Namath - Suzy Kolber.... have always felt badly about that one.... he was way in the bag, and it was that incident, I think, that made him realize that he needed help, and if I correctly remember, he went into rehab right after that.....

The one I like is the Sabres announcer Rick Jennrette.... when a player scores in the top corner..... the call is "top shelf, where mama hides the cookies!!!"
