OT: Shoulder Pain

Living with it. It's survivable for me. If I have children I'll teach myself how to throw lefty.

All you can really do is consult an ortho and get an MRI to see if there is any damage.

I had arthroscopic debridment surgery last October on my right shoulder and recovery was not too bad. Symptoms you described sound the same only my pain only happened from certain movements such as throwing motions or lifting (bench press, push ups, shoulder press, etc.). It had been going on for a few years and was probably a combination of years of baseball and poor lifting form. I am sure playing beer league softball as if I was Vlad Guerrero or Yasiel Puig did not help the matter either.

I did PT first and it did not really help that much. Once my son was born and I hit my deductible I opted for the MRI and surgery when it was discovered my labrum was completely frayed and there was impingement. Again without a MRI there is no way to be sure what type of damage you have.

I went to the best at Yale. They even acknowledged such to be true.

And so does the Mayo Clinic.

Not going to get into a whole back and forth but...

Tylenol in access can cause liver damage.
Advil in access can cause stomach ulcers and kidney failure.

Cortisone injections when administered properly and with judicious use has never been shown in any study to lead to earlier joint degeneration. In fact, the data shows is that it's the preservative in lidocaine/marcaine (what cortisone is usually given with) that has been shown to be possibly damaging to cartilage cells.

I take none of the above. Stopped with ibuprofen a while ago. Use natural stuff that actually helps.

Never been shown to contribute to joint generation? Did you even read the Mayo Clinic link? I assume you'd be more knowledgeable than orthopaedics at the Mayo Clinic and Yale? I am also speaking from experience. Kinda dumb to say that when I've gotten cortisone injections and had to stop, going to a reputable orthopaedic surgeon. And we used it very judiciously. At least 6 months in between injections. I'll assume one of the best surgeons in the state had no clue what he was talking about.

Stop posting on boneyard. Typing on keyboard is a contributing factor and posting here will only add more stress to your aging joints. Free yourself
