I don't disagree with you, but I think if there is a place that he could survive something like this, it's Louisville.

If this was UConn, it'd be over.

I know good people there. Not a bad school in certain areas. But there is no way the administration can really look the student body in the eye after this. I suspect you are right--which is incredible.

If you printed this article out and ate it, I bet it would taste like candy.

It is so on point that it's ridiculous.
Save this column. One day just replace the words relating to Pitino to Calipari and you have a ready made article. Both spinmasters.

Probably have a drink named after him at the Yum.

Spitino won't survive this and Louisville is fighting hard to make this problem mutually exclusive of the staff and institution. Even if the NCAA doesn't act, the damage to Louisville's credibility will be felt for years to come. Not many parents and coaches are going to steer kids in that direction. Perception has already condemned them.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...-affair-arkansas-ad-long-notes_n_1439400.html Pitino and Petrino could bang hookers at center court during halftime on homecoming weekend and I'm not sure they would be fired, this is Louisville we're talking about.

Totally different though. Affairs etc. Drugs etc. Payoffs etc. That happens.
Running hookers for students? No. This is much much worse than any of that.

Not that I disagree, but believe it or not they just got a commitment from a recruit yesterday. Granted he's not that highly rated so he might not be a good example.

I know but it just shows how Lousville has no problem having trashy individuals lead them. All common sense would say they have to fire him but Louisville has shown time and again all they care about is winning, so outside of getting the death penalty it won't be shocking if they keep him.

My contribution ...

Those writers - Pat Forde, Rick Bozich, Eric Crawford, CL Brown - have been licking the wax out of Pitino's ears for years. Just doing his bidding. Not being critical of Pitino. But Uber attack all over - including Calhoun. I'd go to an annual party in Saratoga, given by Pitino's stockbroker. Pitino would be there. I'd hear these guys trash Calhoun. With a bunch of other name coaches there. It was a cabal.

Where's their moral authority now ?

I still think fake classes are worse than this.

I actually agree!! I think both are pretty bad, but a SCHOOL setting up fake classes? That should have more than just an affect on the NCAA team, that should be HUGE, yet UNC is at the top of Preseason NCAA basketball rankings.

Thats not to downplay this situation though. Taking advantage of 17-19 year old kids and clouding their judgement in order to get them to attend your school with sex? If any of those kids were 17 isnt that under age? Shouldnt that be some other kind of charge too? I could see a kid being down to 3 school, and really liking 1 but then again, at UL I'll get laid nightly and that girl was really hot and the things she told me.... I think I'm going to UL.

Can you actually take a fake class?

More like taking credit for a fake class. You can't really take something that doesn't exist.

These classes were attended by kids, many not in the athletics program. Non athletes benefited from these joke classes.

16 is age of consent in Kentucky.

I actually don't think Pitino burns for this. If he does it won't be for hiring hookers/escorts. It will be for getting caught in a lie. He's pretty committed to claiming he knew nothing. If someone shows up with proof he knew...then he's in trouble. I doubt he get's fired for hookers/escorts.

I may be in the minority, but I am of the opinion that hookers are more accepted that many of you realize. You can find ads for "escort" services in almost any city in this country. Certainly any major city. It's legal in much of Nevada.

ND, if we are talking NCAA, if he's punished it will be for failure to monitor/lack of institutional control and possibly impermissible benefit. But in the court of public opinion, he's screwed. How can he give the "don't worry I'll look after your boy" speech on a home visit again? I guess he'd have to go with "mistakes happened, we've taken steps to be sure it never happens again" but I just think it's a really tough sell for top recruits.

I don't see how even Louisville can keep him. It's too salacious a story.

That article is classic!

The NCAA shouldn't act too quickly on this… Probably a 3 to 4 year investigation would be in play. They need to make sure they get this right...
