Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar are FIVE UP on Lee Westwood and Thomas Pieters. USA leads 3 of the 4 groups right now.

If that Mickelson/Garcia match was a Sunday at an Open or Masters, that would've been the most epic battle ever. 19 birdies, both shot 63s. Astounding.

Phil probably isn't going to win another major with the ascendance of DJ, Speith, etc., but the man looks like he'll be competitive for some time. He's a better golfer at 46 than he was at 26 or 36.

Yes, but would never happen. Hazeltine was a joke, rather see this played at a course where every guy isn't shooting a 67 or better.

Rose has a point.

The course was set up fairly easy and was made for aggressive play to get the crowd in to it.

Worked like a champ and that's the home side's prerogative.

Also, for TV and drama purposes reducing holes to putting contests makes it very easy to frame the outcome of a hole.

Definitely liked that the youngins' on the US stepped up.

For the Europers, McIlroy wore the black hat perfectly.

He played off the crowd and his game backed it up.

And the young kid Peters is going to be around for the next 20 years.

67.75 was the average US score over the 3 days (119 under par/28 rounds). Probably like a British Open w/o weather. However, the pressure is as signficant if not more than a major. That Phil/Sergio match was impressive no matter what. They were answering each others bombs on the green. Even if they both shot 67s at Augusta instead of 63s at Hazeltine, it would've been legendary.

What matters is this was great stuff. Course set up? Who cares people got to see a tremendous amount of golf, great golf for some and they reacted as they should. It was fun to watch and no matter, it's set up for everyone the same, get it in the hole first. Pretty ridiculous statement by Rose who I like, he sucked Sunday and let Ricky back in it.

They should play everyone of the US ones @ Kiawah, that is as cool a scene as there is in golf and always get a good shot at some wind to toughen it up further

Hazeltine was easy and it is not appealing on TV, it was so easy for these guys and scoring would be much lower if they didn't have to get as aggressive on so many putts to halve holes and such or put pressure on

I would have liked to see where guys had to struggle to make pars on several holes rather than maybe 3-4

It was good, yes, Rose wasn't great and Westwood and Willett lost the Cup for Europe

Hazeltine has just as much potential for wind as Kiawah. It just didn't pan out that way with lots of rain before making for soft greens and then two days of perfect weather.

The way that the PGA routed and set up the course was more responsible for its "easiness" than anything else. Cutting the rough down favored the longer US players -- pretty clear that was done on purpose.

In any event, tricking up the courses to make them tougher matters far less in a match play context.
