A bunch of college friends and I will be renting an RV to travel to the Cincy game on the 24th. We are leaving Friday afternoon from NY and traveling through the night to Cincy. Should take about 11 hours or so without stops. Wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on the following:

  • Pitstop locations (sights, food, etc)
  • Parking / Tailgating at Cincy
  • General RV Tips
  • Things to do in Cincinnati
  • Any other suggestions

I can tell you from going to a few PSU games in a RV these few things:
Make sure you follow a route that is RV friendly and has no low overpasses

You can stop over night at Walmart and there is no charge

The generator use fee may be steep (this is an FYI)

Pilot rest stops used to have pump out stations and water facilities

Make sure you conserve fresh water and waste as much as possible if you have no where to pump out/fill up

Have an awesome time

Definitely good thinking with the Walmart parking lot and watching the waste usage.

We just bought our tickets to the game. Section 104, right behind the UConn bench. Look for the kid holding the Diaco fathead.

Walmart is a GREAT place to shop for your supplies food included.

You may want to call the Athletic Dept there. I checked the site and there isn't any info on RV parking. Not surprising since campus is downtown.
You may need to find a hotel nearby and hoof it.

It's a pretty easy drive, taking either I80 or I70 across to I71 right into Cincinnati (it's roughly the same distance). The 5+ hours driving thru PA is boring as hell, good thing you'll be with friends.
Did you check the Bengals, Browns, Steelers, Eagles, Giants, or Jets schedule the next day. Could be good to hit up an NFL game. Or Canton Ohio, Football HOF is off of I77 (which links up with both I80- or I70).

Did the Football HOF on the way back from Michigan a few years back - very cool.

My dad and I hit up The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn while we were out there too. Place is huge and I highly recommend so long as you have 3-4 hours. Worth it though.

Unfortunately, there is precious little RV parking at UC games. There are a number of RV parks within 10 miles but you'll need to drive in. Make sure to get a reservation as camping around here just before Halloween is REALLY popular and the campgrounds fill up early.
You guys may like KIngs Island Amusment Park right off 71 just north of the city. Lexington is a cool town (except for the UK fans), Canton is on the way too.
Walmart was a great tip (ask permission at the service counter) and Pilots and Flying J have propane, water and pumpouts. Cracker Barrels have overnight spots for RV's too.

I took an RV to Detroit for the MCB with a group of friends. Dead winter and it was a blast. You definitely want to scope out where to park. One thing about RV's and a city - you just don't want to take a wrong turn onto a narrow or one way street. Check out the bearcats message board as well.

RV, Bus & Other
General Public

Gameday RV parking on Cincinnati’s campus is not an option for visiting fans. The on campus RV lots are reserved for season ticket holders. Your best bet is to head to the east side of campus, specifically the Short Vine District. There are a handful of options for RVers on gamedays, all lots are first come first serve so arrive early.

  • Parking meters along Jefferson Ave – Arrive as early as possible to find a spot. Cincinnati does not ticket meters on Saturdays.
  • Schiel School Lot – Located on the corner of Vine and Daniels Streets, across from the Sigma Sigma house.
  • Bogart’s Lot – Located behind Bogart’s on the corner of Glendora Street and Corry Boulevard.
  • Martino’s Lot – Located directly behind Martino’s Restaurant on Short Vine.
  • Charlton Lot – Adjacent to LaRosa’s located on Short Vine.
  • Benchmark Lot – Across from the Post Office on Short Vine.

RV PARKING

RV parking is available in Lot 13 at a rate of $25. For more information about RV parking, please contact UC Public Safety at (513) 556-4923.

We are planning to arrive before 8 AM, so it sounds like we should head straight to the Short Vine District. With kickoff not until 4:30, it should give us plenty of time for a nice long tailgate.

Thanks for all the information guys, much appreciated.
