Unfortunately it appears that Rutgers continue to experience issues in their athletics. ESPN is reporting that as a result of being arrested, five players have been dismissed from their football team. Four for being accused of aggravated assault, riot and conspiracy to commit a riot and one for being accused of robbery, burglary while armed and conspiracy to commit an armed robbery. It also reported that the football coach has previously been investigated for allegedly contacting one of the player's professors, reportedly against the advice of the academic support staff, in the hope that he would allow the player to complete extra work for an improved grade.
Not a lot of positive news originating from Rutgers over the past couple of years. I wonder if the BIG 10 is questioning the wisdom of inviting Rutgers into their conference.
