The pro wrestler was 79. His real name was Jim Myers...he had a Masters Degree from
Central Michigan and taught in a Detroit high school before turning pro.
He had a particular fondness for eating the pad of the nearest turnbuckle.

Remember him from my boyhood days. What I didn't realize was that he was a football recruit at Michigan State, and returned to be both a teacher as well as football and wrestling coach at his hometown high school, eventually being inducted into the Michigan Coachs Hall of Fame. No small achievement in life.
 
Just saw that 74 year old Ivan Koloff passed away today.
George the Animal Steele had to be one of the top 5 characters created by WWF/WWE. I would guess Hulk Hogan would be #1
 
yes i remember gorilla monsoon as announcer thinking out loud that George with his hairy back came from the jungles of South America!!! One of wrestlings finest characters no doubt.... Everyone remembers the green tongue
