OMG, the memories. Back in the day, it seemed that every time a new pack of baseball cards was opened up, Frank Malzone was among them: He and Jose Pagan. IIRC, he wore No. 11 with the Red Sox.

Sorry to hear that. I'm a Yankee fan but I always liked Malzone.

Yankee fan, eh? Well, we all have our faults.

I always remember him at 3B every time I went to Fenway in the 60's when I was a kid. Just a real solid player in all phases of the game and from all accounts, a great teammate.

RIP Frank, you were certainly one of the "good guys" in Red Sox lore and history.

Saw him hit two homers in one game at Fenway as a kid.
Absolutely robbed of the ROY award.

On the back of post cereals....

Frank was one of my earliest favorite players, probably because he was my grandfather's favorite. When I started playing youth baseball, grandpa wanted me to play third base "the same as Frank Malzone". I may have been close enough to a 6 year old equivalent of Frank with the glove, but I could not hit a basketball if it were sitting on a table. Clearly baseball was not my future, but Grandpa loved me anyway.

He played only 10 years, but appeared in 8 all-star games....that's something.
